Yeah, still had 300k toons go into raids week 1.
Classic servers had about 10k raiders on each server week 1. Over 15 or so servers. These are just US numbers.
The entire anniversary player base is sitting at 25k. EU and US combined.
Unless it picks up substantially, it will die.
Raiders, yes.
For whatever reason, this fresh is mega casual AF
The PvP server started with 150k. Of course there will always be an initial drop
The fact this server isn’t going to drag on for 2 years + the guarantee of tbc I think it will be fine
You don’t need half a million people playing. The people playing now aren’t the tourists anymore like back in 2019. This will be your regular classic base
I didn’t even raid the first week and I’m usually degen gaming to get there first lockout. Not this server

Talking raiders for initial classic launch aswell. I don’t think casual players are what you want to rely on to keep a server running.
Whatever way you look at it, 25k raiders for MC world wide is very worrying. Hopefully they sort out the phase 2 pvp release or you will see another huge drop off.
The real big difference is while the servers are big, but so were the original Classic 2019 servers. On Whitemane we had no joke 17K Q’s just to log in and so many layers they invented an add on just to layer hop more efficiently.
Also as you’re aware the way the numbers work on IF pro is that they use data gathered from 3rd party sites like WCL that requires the players use the add on and log publicly.
Couple this with most players do not log, and I wager it was less prevalent in Classic 2019 as it’s remarkably rare in Classic Era Whitemane, it’s hard to trust any of the data.
Hell it’s even hard to measure populations using the AH, because if the AH is flooded by bots putting up single micro auctions instead of what typically players do then the results are misleading.
The only thing I can think of that truly spells out how massive 2019 was is the fact that blizzard themselves had bragged about the massive population increase.
If the Anniversary servers were as popular they would have likely boasted somewhere.
Who’s gonna keep it running? I never said casuals will do that. The server could have 30k static pop and that’s about the size of faerlina classic and can run itself.
Personally I’d like some more to quit so we can lose some layers
I don’t know what you’re worried about. If I thought this server was gonna be dead I would stop playing. Nobody really cares about the aq-naxx drop off the only thing that matters is p1-4. There are enough “key” guilds and players im familiar with to know server will be fine.

I think both will hit 100k for TBC too.
You think it will grow with pre-patch? I love the optimism, I am looking at TBC raids with a bit of luster again.
Well there’s already ERA so fresh could only draw in so much. There’s currently no TBC though, so I do think it’ll go up.
Tbc will go up and lose a lot of players around ssc as it always does notoriously
Why would you want an easy solution when the alternative is competing against thousands of others for flowers, hmm idk
