Awwww shucks! You guys are the best. You’re making the Pook blush here.

By the way, “A Non-Canonical Musical Adventure with Pookamhura: Mistress of B-Roll” is now running at Theatre Passe Muraille (16 Ryerson Avenue, Toronto) as part of the Toronto Fringe Festival and the Alliance for Canadian Musicals. This is the same play I mounted last year at the Hamilton Fringe Festival (so I am technically correct when I say it’s the musical Hamilton audiences raved about (Hamilton the city, not Hamilton the musical)). Last night was our opening night and many a leggity was broken.

The play is about the Pook and three other players, waiting in queue for a healer to show up after a dungeon wipe and they talk to each other in chat about their adventures in game and in real life when one of them inadvertently lets slip a detail about themselves IRL that threatens the cohesion of the group. It has songs from the YouTube webseries. This will likely be the last time this musical is performed (it runs until July 11th). You can visit PookPlay.CA for more information.

I’ve had a few people whisper me that they resubbed to WoW after seeing the Hamilton performance of the play last year.

As a F2P I always love it when TimeWalking events are happening because it let’s me chat with other WoW players in the dungeons. I’m pretty much a mute to players over level 30 (I created a bunch of macros that let me perform animations so I can communicate through mime with higher level players).

Also this is the song Twizzle has stuck in their head.

(it’s not in the stage musical though)

I live laugh love a million miles from Toronto. Do you see a future where there is a recording of your play people can watch?

This will probably be the last time the play is performed live. We have a joke in the theatre community up here, “Why is a Canadian play like a dixie cup? You use it once and then throw it away.”

This is the second time this play has been mounted so we’ve broken that trend but it’s unlikely it’ll ever be performed again. But I have been thinking it might be nice to make an audio recording of the play and then make a machinima of it to put on YouTube.

[EDIT] The first reviews from the Toronto Fringe are coming in and I thought I’d share them with everyone.

POOKS, how did the play go?

Well there’s a thing in the Fringe where if there are more people on the stage than there are in the audience you can cancel your show and we didn’t cancel any shows. Most of our audiences were small which is to be expected when you’re a theatre company from out of town. Our largest audiences were about the size of our average audience when we performed the play at the Hamilton Fringe festival a year earlier. Our biggest audience was probably our final night and we got a standing ovation.

Our audiences might have been small but every review of the play was very positive and audience reactions were enthusiastically positive.
