Currently, flying prior to the latest expansion is in a bit of disarray due to changing approaches to the mechanic over the various expansions.
Which would be the best way, in your opinion for this to be made consistent:
Allow flying at 30 in all areas (with training)
Allow flying at 60 in all areas (with training)
Keep current (Pathfinder Achievement) requirements for BfA and Shadowlands maps (a.k.a. no changes)
Remove all classic flying (Possibly expanding the whistle or something?)
I think regardless of the option, most people generally like the Flight Master Whistle and it would be nice to see it available everywhere.
Note that Iâve deliberately left out any mention of Dragon Flying as Blizzard likely have their own plans for this seperate mechanic & associated maps (Dragon Isles etc.)
Back in the day we could take a FP from Darnassus to sithilus go afk for a sandwich or make dinner get back and have to relog back in cause we went away for too long.
Just to log in falling from the sky in Skytalon Mountains and fall to our deaths.
âsheds a tearâ God those days sucked walking for like 30 mins through Tanaris, or flying for 30+ mins to get to the other side of the continent. Being too poor to afford a mount and spell training, or just being too poor to use the FP in generalâŚ
Anything but 4. Definately 3, like make an oath to the Cosmic Forces for Commonsense that Pathfinder be sent to Hades.
Personally I think normal flight is perfectly fine. Nobody complained about it prior to DF, nobody called it âswimmingâ (which is a dumb and incorrect lable), we were just glad to get to 300 and use it to get around above the world.
Itâs not completely incorrect as it uses the same controls as swimming and if you fly without a mount it is air swimming, not that I am agreeing with the label at all, anymore than âdragon glidingâ but the mechanic is what it is.
Would be my choice, with an easier Pathfinder (for the expansion/content) as a compromise, easier being: Level cap, loremaster, explorer (to quell the argument of seeing the content) and some gold.

Iâm not sure if loremaster would be less work than âReady for Warâ
The real issue with Pathfinder on BfA is the time-gating on getting the 6 required Revered reputation levels means that it takes weeks and weeks of real time (as opposed to /played) to complete, far long than all the other BfA content combined.
My apologies, I went back in and did an edit while you were typing, I meant Loremaster for current content/current xpac which has been made much easier in the last 4 or 5 expansions. Just following the storyline/chapter quests gives the Loremaster achievement these days.
And yet, if you are submerged and touch no controls, you just sit there. However, if you are inflight and touch no controls, you keep going in the direction you were going. Which is sort of a major difference. And I donât get the same controls thing - even dragonriding uses movement in response to space bar, and changes direction using the direction controls. I just never got the air swimming thing and I cant recall it ever being used previously. (It might have, obviously this is just a personal subjective observation.)
No? The auto-run function works exactly the same for both domains. If you turn it on while swimming youâll swim forward until you run into something (or drown) and if you donât turn it on while flying, youâll just hover there.
Go back to how things were during WoWâs peak, hit level cap and you can fly. No mess, no fuss, no convoluted crap or hoops to jump through in order to make you âearnâ back your mode of transportation.
Ionâs idiotic stance on flight has been a blight on this game ever since WoD.
Add Dragonflying to all old world areas with current flying available at level 30 once unlocked via requirement (level 70+finished dragonflight main story on main character)
