If I lose a 2s match, and one enemy gains 4 points, while the other gains 96, can I assume that’s a carry? Or is this something else?

Am I not being clear or are you insulting me?
Just because someone is playing with someone much lower than them doesn’t make it a carry.
Right right but the idea that one person has a much higher rating than the other is born out from the rating increase allocation from a win, right?
I’m not sure what you’re asking. You get points based on the enemy’s MMR compared to your CR and I think some other hidden factors like recent win/loss ratio.
Rating increases are just based on our CR and MMR, that’s it. If you win a much higher MMR game than your CR you get more rating.
Yeah that gets me to where I need to be.
I’m wondering if, when you get absolutely stomped, and the point disparity is large, if you can make an educated guess that it’s a carry.
I don’t think there’s really a way to know. I play with some of my friends’ alts who are rank 1 but are on a different class with much less gear, so it could appear that it’s a carry. Or someone could just be friends with someone else who isn’t quite as good. It’s not really possible to know what’s going on from the other side.
The movement of everyone screaming boost at everything they can has really turned this topic into some next level stupidity.
A boost is when you pay gold/money for a rating increase
A boost is not playing with lower XP friends
A boost is not gearing your friends fresh alt
Good players don’t take twos seriously (GENERALLY) that’s why high rated players will q it at 1800 to farm gear.
+96 means it was one of the first games played on that character common sense says friend made an alt
Not that there’s anything wrong with this, but if one person has gear and rating and is helping a person with no gear/rating, then isn’t that still considered a carry regardless of if anyone’s getting paid?
It is, Amatox is just assuming I’m blaming a rigged system for my loss.
For me, I just want to know if I should think I played really poorly that match, or if the 80% HP Aimed Shot was a matter of gear. Don’t pick this apart. I’m speaking in generalities.
The whole issue is people that post their grievances here with arena and boosting are 2v2 only players. The bracket is rock paper scissors fotm garbage and so anyone that’s half a brain just sees it as a throw away bracket to gear people up or kill free time.
If you don’t wanna fight a geared player grinding gear for his friends alt then you’re queing the wrong bracket or need to push ur rating up higher to avoid that stuff.
Yeah it’s a “”"“carry”"" but neither player is doing anything wrong
Not necessarily. MMR is dictating this type of stuff. 96 points generally means your placement games + a few extra. I don’t know off the top of my head, but iirc the person would have to be like 2100 cr or so to be getting 4 points with someone thats a fresh CR.
Who said they were?
I thought the point of this thread is so you can justify an L because big scary booster cheated you
Is not necessarily what OP is talking about.
Every boost is a carry, but not every carry is a boost.
As for the topic itself, the OP seems to think gear advantages make a difference in PvP.
Why did you assume this?
What are you asking then? You lost a game to a player that’s got decent rating and a player in their placement games. That’s what happened that’s all it is.
Maybe you missed the explainer earlier.
You see for those of us climbing the rankings, you have to learn to figure out when you get beat by someone better, or if you got beat by gear. One you can’t do anything about and the other you can talk through mistakes, where you went wrong, and how to improve next time.
