Not really, no.
And when the main healer for the season is the same class, you’re just deciding to pick up a dps shaman, which both of them do enough damage to justify being there.
Plus they bring secondary curse cleanse, and cap totem as well.
If you do not see why people would do this, you sorely underestimate how stupid people are about making things easier just for themselves.
They have had this same problem for the last 6 years. When should we expect them to stop using temporary fixes for the problem of massive utility imbalances?
If they do it, it won’t be because of the cleanse totem. It’ll be because of other factors, like good damage.
All this change means is that on devouring weeks, my party will have spots available for four shamans instead of one.
Have fun spending extra long in the group finder.
it’s okay you will only need 3 shamans to handle the affix, so one dps spot is open for whatever you want
On non-disepll affix weeks, yeah.
On weeks like last week, it’s not optional now. People were already bringing 2 shams to deal with the litany of problems on multiple dungeons.
Now it’s basically required in their mind on Devour.
Devouring affix was only tolerable on rsham.

See on one hand, I could care that this is a bad change and blizzard have once again missed the point.
Orrrrr… I could be bitter over mass dispel getting the same treatment and laugh.

You could do both. Those don’t exist as mutually exclusive.
Both decisions were stupidly made to combat subversion of terrible affixes they personally made.
Wouldn’t it open up more for encounter design in the future?
Poison is actually something they can use instead of bring shaman + forget it exists?
Same thing with mass dispel.

If I’m bringing four shamans, I’m clearly tanking. I will spend 2 seconds in the group finder, max.

Thankfully you only need 2 for the affix specifically. It pops up about every 90 seconds in combat. 2 min cd, so you could get away with it with two.
Totemic Recall may even allow for you to sneak with one, as a dps sham.
Isn’t how this works with the affix kind of a non issue when push keys don’t even have the affix at all?
Not really. All of their balancing, beyond the one change to the affix at +12 this week, has been centered around keys 11 and lower.
The CE players doing 12’s have basically been complaining since release that the modifier at 12 was ridiculous in the first place. All of PTR testing was done with a bug that disabled it.
They had zero testing on the extra scaling and just said “whatever, deal with it. You don’t matter anyway”
Oh, no, it was hailed as the best thing ever because it’ll be unchanging and every week is a push week.
Enough of the revisionist history.

I mean it was hailed as the best because we assumed it was enabled on ptr when we were testing difficulty. We still love that there’s no affixes messing with things and every week is push week, we just weren’t expecting the jump from 11-12 to be quite that large because it wasn’t on ptr.
Had we actually been testing with guile active on ptr, we’d have noticed the ludicrous scaling and commented on it, and it’d probably have been tuned prior to release.

as a prevoker main, echoed spiritbloom handled the affix pretty easily. big bursty heals got rid of the affix with zero problems.
Nah, its a mass cleanse. 2 Minutes seems right.
Classic lazy blizzard
rather than buff the weaker healers to shamans utility level so everyone can have fun, they nerf the only healer that can handle this trash mythic+ season
way to go, lazy devs
