As someone who started playing at the end of legion, I did the mage tower on a few specs even though I was really bad I managed to complete 3 classes and pugged my way through aotc antorus for the mount. I probably spent 3-4 weeks at the end of legion (only played for a few hours a week then) to get that mount because I read that it’s going away after the season
I quit right after getting it because I had no one to play and pugging heroic Argus made me completely lose my motivation to play. Fast forward till end of BFA where I really started playing wow, I then saw what I missed in legion with the 2 Druid forms. I instantly loved the bear and the purple sparkle cat and was devastated after I heard I could never get them. Which sucked but I guess nothing I could do
With Pandaria Remix blizzard did not bring back challenge mode or aotc mount from that addon back. Which is fine because atleast they stay true to what they said.
Now with legion remix we are getting the aotc mount back but not mage tower appearances?
A bug happens that people who did the mage tower after legion with feral and guardian get the OG mage tower Druid forms and im so happy. I thought blizzard realized that it makes no sense to gatekeep one “prestige reward” but release the other one.
I’m pretty pissed to read that it’s getting reverted but I can live with it, if atleast we could be consistent with what we bring back. Dont get me wrong, I think stuff like that, that’s a pseudo prestige reward because its simply wasn’t hard to get. Neither aotc nor the mage tower at the end of legion was really hard when even I back then got it. But if we wanna keep it that way then atleast be consistent about it. Atleast the Druid forms are kind of unique and those 2 Druid specs already lack transmog because they have to be in their respective form all the time. So we have like 25-30 cat forms which are like 7-10 models because most have 3-4 color variations and we gatekeep that, but a mount like the aotc mount has to be rerelease while their are 1000+ mounts available to farm in the game already? It just doesn’t make sense

Just wanna add to that. I think the Druid forms should be obtainable. I also think it would be a fair compromise to make them especially hard to get, so people have to work for them, but with this little customization options for cats and bears and transmog being this big of a thing in wow as it is, there should not be inaccessible forms.
Make them the reward for having done all mage tower challenges. So atleast you have to invest a great amount of time to get them
Rebalance them with disabling embellishments and hero talents for them. In shadowlands when they came back they were hard to complete. I did every challenge for every spec simple because I love that kind of content and it was not a cake walk.
There are so many possibilities to give people ways to earn those that are equally or more challenging than doing them at the end of legion and I’m sure there are so many people out there who would do them because they want to play in their cat and bear form and don’t like the other limited options they got. It just doesn’t make sense to gatekeep something that already has pretty poor customization options compared to all other classes and specs.
I get that it doesn’t feel good to many people to rerelease stuff that was unobtainable and I understand the “people don’t need to own everything” but for many people that’s not the reason they want those back and where happy that they had them now. It’s because as a feral or guardian player or even resto or balance for their cat and bear forms, you don’t have that much customization and some people want them because they are unique in their appearance.
I’m done now with my ranting. But as a member of the community council I just felt the need to get this out so people that feel like me can be heard. We already gave out so much stuff that was limited, hard to get, expensive or stuff like that and those things made no sense to give out. I didn’t own stuff like tyraels charger, feldrake, other tcg mounts that were given out as twitch drops and I couldn’t care less about those because there are so many other mounts or recolors like them. I bough the auction house mount back then in bfa because they said the will remove it. Am I pissed that it got a better version for everyone to get years later? No because there wasn’t anything like that in the game. Same for the limited customization for Druid. So I say pls give Druid players a chance to get them because we already are so limited on customization with our cat and bear forms

Add new appearances instead. Returning things that were clearly communicated as limited time for beating a specific challenge is not it. It doesn’t matter that the timewalking mage tower is harder than the original one was during Antorus. It’s a different challenge in a completely different game/knowledge context.
AotC mounts and Chosen transmogs shouldn’t return either, that’s a mistake on Blizzard’s end.

But they did bring back the AotC mount and the Sets for beating ToV Mythic without Dying. Its now to late for the argument that they said they are limited time because these were communicated as limited as well and we even got an Inverview with Ian in DF where he said they will not bring back old KSM/AOTC/PVP mounts.
According to DataForAzeroth 28% of the Accounts tracked own atleast one Mage Tower appearance and 25% the Violet Spellwing. So less people did get the aotc mount than the Mage tower appearance and why are we releasing that?
It just doesnt make sense. We have the Mage Tower in the game which was probably equally as challenging at release (in shadowlands) than it was at the end of Legion but we are not getting the same rewards, which was fine by me and i never would have asked for them. But with Legion remix we are getting the aotc mount for clearing Heroic Argus which will be like basically giving it our for free for anyone who plays legion remix long enough to get to level 80 and play for 20 min till every boss gets one shotted by someone in a random group.
And we are obviously not getting new appearances, there are 8 Cat and 10 Bear forms in the Game already. We got 1 new Cat and 1 new Bear since legion and still so many people ask for the Mage Tower forms everyday because they look much better and are more Unique.
If you want to keep stuff being time limited you have to stay to your word and keep it that way for all the things but blizzard didnt. It wasnt even stuff from different expasions or content thats unavailable or rare. The Mage tower stuff is less rare, the content is still in the game and it went away at the same time as the Aotc mount and the undying sets. There is no good reason why one shouldnt be coming back but the others do.
Atleast give us a statement why one should be more exclusive than the others. I did both at the end of legion Mage Tower (not for druid cause i didnt even know about them) and aotc. Aotc was way harder to get if you didnt have friends to play, skill or aotc to get into good groups 1 month before bfa release. Why is my achivement less prestigous than the other one?

I’m in the camp that the mage tower appearances should be available. I did all 36 class/spec combinations at the time. I did the disc priest one early on before we really were in Tomb of Sargeras bis and then I did the other 35 in 7.3 after doing the Argus world boss for a couple months casually. The gear trivialized it immensely so I do not see it as an accomplishment. I was proud of the first one I did when it was current in 7.2 but let’s be real it was a lot easier with 7.3 gear. I remember finishing the blood death knight challenge then realizing I never had the artifact ability on my bars. I do not think I was particularly skilled at 36 specs by any means.
I don’t see WoW as a game with too much PvE prestige outside of titles or PvP rewards. Titles like Famed Slayer is prestigious (and even then you could just get Cutting Edge then join a famed guild for it). The mythic mounts become a low drop rate in the next expansion so sheer luck can get the same mount. Then two expansions later it will be soloable on alts. Then 3 expansions later like Shadowlands was and you have the Collector’s Bounty buff and can just brute force get the mythic jailer mount.
So clearly prestige falls away quickly, it is fleeting, and the way I see it is if you want to maintain prestige you should always be getting the latest rewards. Just like how mythic mounts become trivialized and just a mark of a mog run done on your #17th alt I do not see why mage tower appearances cannot be obtained by other players. it has been near 10 years since they were added.
I think prestige would be cool but if it was done properly and consistently. But it hasn’t been. Gladiator mounts are only obtainable during their respective season yet mythic mounts are always obtainable. Another example is mythic appearances used to be a thing exclusive for mythic raiders for a given season. Then over years it became a thing you just upgrade into from heroic. Now you don’t have to do that, you can raid heroic or work on it slowly over time.
There just isn’t prestige in the mage tower appearances after 7.2 so I don’t think we should pretend there is.

Yeah, that shouldn’t be a thing and Blizzard should change it. The best time was years ago, the second best time is right now. Tie more rewards to the seasonal achievements for raiding, just like how PvP and M+ do it. Make the titles tied to the seasonal prestige achievements less lame. We don’t need a 45th Famed Slayer or Adjective Hero, we need more Banes of the Fallen King, Dragonslayers, Ironbanes.
Should’ve been completely season-specific like the Elite sets, and allowing hero track to unlock the appearances is honestly kind of insulting. Them caving on that after finally getting rid of it again in Midnight was very disappointing. The myth ones should also be model changes again like in WoD, separate ones for M+, raid and PvP instead of only recolors.
I just don’t agree. Recognizing people for having done a thing at a certain point in time has value. Giving them a cool cosmetic to show off “I was there, I did a thing” is good. Keep adding more of that kind of thing so people have things to show off regardless of which season they played in, don’t devalue the existing ones by returning them.
It doesn’t have to be CE or HoF or Elite or Gladiator, it can be something as easy as The Deaths of Chromie or the various prepatch events. Having things that visually represent a specific point in time is good. Achievement dates are meaningless, it has to be a title/mount/pet/toy/transmog (ideally cloak/head/shoulders/weapon because those are most visible)
WoW is a very old game, recognizing that with in-game cosmetics is cool.
