I thought this would have been addressed by now, but unfortunately it hasn’t. I’d like to bring it up now in the hope that it can be improved for the next season.
1.Please Increase Blade of Justice’s AoE Radius
I would like to provide feedback regarding the AoE radius of Blade of Justice for Retribution Paladins.
In Mythic+ and other multi-target situations, Blade of Justice’s current radius creates several gameplay issues.
When targeting a large enemy, the AoE often fails to reach nearby enemies, resulting in significantly lower damage than expected. On the other hand, if I target a smaller enemy to maximize AoE coverage, I may be criticized for not focusing the priority target.
This issue becomes especially noticeable with very large enemies. Because of their large models and hitboxes, Blade of Justice frequently fails to reach surrounding targets even when they appear visually close together.
The effectiveness of the ability is also heavily dependent on how tightly the tank groups enemies. If mobs are spread out even slightly, the ability loses a significant amount of value. As a result, my performance often feels determined more by tank positioning than by my own gameplay decisions.
I do not believe players should be penalized in this way. Poor performance should be the result of my own mistakes, not because an ability’s radius is too limited for modern encounter design.
A simple test can be done using the training dummies in town. When targeting one of the dummies at the end of the row, Blade of Justice often fails to reach some of the dummies on the opposite side. Compared to many other classes’ AoE abilities, this feels unnecessarily restrictive.
Suggested Improvements
- Increase Blade of Justice’s AoE radius.
- Ensure that the ability can reliably hit a typical Mythic+ pull.
- Review interactions with large enemy hitboxes that reduce the practical effectiveness of the ability.
Retribution Paladin gameplay should be determined by player skill and decision-making, not by whether enemy positioning happens to fit within an unusually small AoE radius.
2.Plate Armor Doesn’t Feel Like Plate Anymore
I honestly can’t tell whether I’m wearing cloth armor or plate armor anymore.
Even after investing a fair amount into Versatility, its defensive value for Retribution Paladins still feels poorly tuned compared to other DPS specs.
For example, I was standing inside a Restoration Shaman’s Spirit Link Totem with six other DPS players, yet I was the only one who died.
Please reconsider the survivability design for plate wearers. Plate armor should actually feel like plate armor.
Thank you for your consideration.
