I would love to know if there is in fact some way somebody might know where the recharge audio can be turned off, but I’m not so sure if there is a way.
I’m hoping blizzard can give the option for it in particular. It was a nice audio indicator to let you know you were recharging your vigor, but 2 years of skyriding I’m very attuned and familiar at the points of speed I get it at, as well as the visual of the blue trails. So I really don’t need the sound to inform me.
I often prefer my music off in games, I like hearing the ambience of just simple or ‘natural’ noises. So I’m not in favor of needing to hear this particular audio all the time.
Maybe addons? I found this quote from a player in a previous inquiry on this matter:
“Get the addons MuteSoundFile and Leatrix Sound
Use Leatrix Sound to get the sound ID
Once you have it, use MuteSoundFile to turn it off”
I’m not personally knowledgeable about these addons and their purpose but just found it trying to find an answer for you. Just be careful using addons i don’t like recommending things I haven’t used normally lol
“Ok so I was losing my mind hearing this sound every 2 seconds with fully upgraded dragon riding. The sound ID you need to block with MuteSoundFiles is 1489541. This actually corresponds to the UI_DRAGONRIDING_FULL_NODE SoundKitID (201528).”
I have no idea what the addons etc are, on curse maybe?
Initial questions was:
"Is there an addon that lets you disable specific sound effects?
The singing noise that healing spheres make is giving me a headache. I want to just disable that one particular sound. I don’t think it can be done through the default interface and my Google-fu is failing me."
Awesome, sounds like this post did a lot of the work of finding that sound file for you if you do use addons for it.
Little edit: I tried downloading MuteSoundFile and seeing if it worked. It does!
Download the addon and type in /mutesoundfile and the addon option screen will appear. Use the sound ID provided above and give it a nickname, I called it “vigor recharge”.
It will let you preview the sound and if it the correct one which this was you can select “mute sound”.
You may unmute and mute this as you please.
I want to thank the OP for bringing this up again to give me a chance to try this. Dragonriding is indeed much more pleasant without that sound!
Quick search of CurseForge, MuteSoundFiles is available on CurseForge. I think adding that and muting the sound ID that you mentioned from reddit would be OP’s best solution currently.
Do note that MuteSoundFiles is not currently up-to-date and thus may not work properly. (I don’t forsee it having any issues though, since it’s a file that existed before the latest patch, just a heads up incase it doesn’t work as intended)
That annoying melody when you activate Thrill of The Skies and related that recharges your vigor. I have my music turned off in the settings so it’s not part of any sort of song in the game. It only plays when you start recharging your vigor.
You’re a life saver. I was getting to be so irritated by it after so, so long of dealing with it. I am saving this ID in a note pad in case the addon ever bugs up or something happens and I can’t find this post again.
Thanks a ton.
Better then some snark about someone just telling me to turn my sound off. Like, I only want to not hear one thing, that’s it.
Sounds soft, I guess I never noticed. Then again I usually have music on.
Side Note: Why do you have music off? The last person I spoke to who had music off and suddenly had it turned on accidentally was truly amazed by how good it was.
I always play my games with music off because I enjoy hearing the ambiences instead. Believe me I turn on the music for each new expansion at least for a week and then on and off to hear the tracks.
I got WoW a long time ago before I had acquired this habit, so I’ve heard the songs of at least every zone and expansion.
