Please Randomize AQ War Effort

I remember this too. Can’t remember who. The idea was to add an affix to mats like “war effort mats”. Which only dropped during the event or something that recognized and only accepted mats that dropped at that time.
I too think something should prevent stockpiling. Allow the event to happen as it did without stockpiling.

As pointed out above. Having this knowledge also allows stockpiling to make gold. Allow them to be sold but don’t allow stockpiling.

An even bigger issue is people knowing the entirety of the quest line to unlock the scepter, but I think that is beyond controlling. If anything the biggest failure of that epic quest line is that not enough people got to experience it.

Is it not a change from the vanilla experience to know beforehand what the AQ war effort will require?

you need raid drop(s) (i think 2 but i dont remember) to even get the mallet to do the gong. so that means at least 1 or 2 raid lockouts. if you think randomizing it will stop the upper 10% of the server combined with the 90% rest turning in what they can to be any more than that youre mistaken.

they cant make the mats much more expensive or it will be a huge drain on the economy .

seriously . do you guys think before you post or do you have some sort of verbal diarrhea?

Careful, or Zevlach might come in and call you a troll.

Yeah that was it. Even better if it’s materials that don’t become worthless after the event.

Yea. I think they should function in all ways as regular mats do. Just have a tag or internal check that only allows turn ins from the begining of the event and nothing from before. Then they shouldn’t even have to adjust numbers. Unless servers caps are raised?

It’s also not a change for classes to have the nerf bat swung at them every couple of months.
/evilgrin

No it’s not. I fully support nerf bats!

Everything I can find on getting the shards only requires 1 run into BWL, provided you can kill Nefarius within 5 hours of starting the quest. The other 2 shards require talking to Azuregos and doing a quest chain for him and a trip into Sunken temple then some farming around the Green Dragon Portals, among some other things.

In other words, With enough stock piling for the war effort, a top end guild could complete the whole thing within a comparatively short timeframe in comparison to vanilla.

Shrug. This is along the sames lines as changing up attunements and boss mechanics. If they did this, I personally wouldn’t mind. I dare say, it might be a good idea.

i dont believe you know how much the whole server would have to stockpile for that to happen. the numbers on it are quite large.

And you think they won’t have enough time to stock pile huge amounts of what’s needed, if they know what they need day 1?

its not a matter of time. its a matter of bag space.

lets take the turn in of peacebloom. they stack to 20. so lets see here…

for ease on my feeble mind lets say you have 10 16 slot bags. thats 160 x 20 .

so 3200 peacebloom.

and thats 1 bank alt full of nothing but peacebloom stacks in each slot.

i am not sure on the exact numbers of turn ins needed. lets just say 100k to be safe.

do the math.

And I have 9 alts, filled to bursting with required materials. Plus then entire guild doing exactly the same thing. Plus every other guild trying to race for this doing the same thing. That 3200 is suddenly multiplied 1000 fold.

sure thing there.

and the economy wouldnt be crapped on if they made higher mats randomized into it as well.

ahh well have fun.

People aren’t going to care about the economy if it means it benefits them in getting something no one else on the server can get.

People are underestimating the amount of neckbearded snaggletoothed no lifeing that will be going on I think. If people are going to have warlock alts for summons to world bosses than they will have an alt for peacebloom.

Even on private servers with 3x the population from Vanilla and dynamically respawning nodes (read: easier time gathering the mats), it still takes 3-4 weeks for the gates to open. And even if a server somehow came together and stockpiled thousands of the harder things in order to rush the war effort, they’d still need to:

  • Kill Broodlord in BWL (3rd boss) and loot his head, the fun begins

  • Grind over 10k Silithid Fragments off the elite silithid NPCs in the Silithus Hives so you get neutral and can proceed on the next part of the quest

  • Clear BWL from Vael to Nef in under 4h, this requires another lockout for obvious reasons for the red fragment

  • Farm the hell out of the elite NMD trash for some quest items for the green fragment

  • THEN you have to kill Eranikus in Moonglade, which takes a while and which most guilds usually do with 80 people, that nets you the green fragment

  • You need to start the blue fragment chain which is the worst part after the rep grind as you need to:

  • Get glasses from MC trash, then run back to Tanaris, turn in the goggles, run around doing some gossip with a mermaid and then go kill an ape in Winterspring, which then allows you to start Draconic for Dummies.

Draconic for dummies requires you to gather all chapters, which requires you to: loot a book in Undercity, in Stormwind and in BWL. You need to kill Onyxia and Ragnaros for chapters as well. You also need to kill an elite NPC in that island off the coast of Dustwallow (requires a raid) and farm 60k hp demons in Blasted Lands and Winterspring for the other chapters.

Oh and you also need to go on that island in Feralas and farm some chimaeras as well as kill a 320k hp boss Chimaera.

After you’ve done all of the above, you need to turn in about 500g worth of mats for a Buoy, which you use to summon a gigantic shark off the coast of Azshara.

If you’ve done all of the above, you have now succesfully completed the Scarab Lord questline and need to wait for the server to finish the War Effort. Oh, and you’re better ringing the gong within 10h of it being rung the first time or you can kiss your Legendary mount goodbye.

This means:

  • 2 lockouts required in BWL
  • Realistically 2 lockouts required in MC as well
  • A metric ton of time spent grinding insects and turning in Silithid Carapace Fragment for your to-be Scarab Lord to grind to Neutral w/ Brood of Nozdormu
  • A ton of time spent farming everything else for the quest

TL;DR: you aren’t doing this in a day or a week, and you are going to have a very hard time doing it in any less than 14 days simply because of how much you need to grind the bugs before even getting to the other parts of the quest which are almost as grindy as the damn bugs.

I guarantee you with 100% certainty that if all of what you stated above remains unchanged it will be completed in absolutely no time at all depending on what server you are playing on.
