While I don’t think there are many players that will share the concers that the OP posts, under his point of view and the way he plays the game, his request makes sense and I do feel for the OP if this is something he has been working on for years and gets broken by the warband system.
At the same time this seems like a very niche case that I’m not sure the Devs will or should account for, you simply can’t please everyone and more account-wide stuff is something the overwhelming majority of players want.
I guess if it wasn’t too difficult from a techincal standpoint it would be ok to provide the option to opt-out but I really really doubt that will be the case, it sounds like this is a signifficant change/rework at a game-systems level that will probably require some sort of “migration” tools to collect all the indivudual things for each character and convert it into the new warbard system.
My suggestion or I think the approach I’d go with if I was in the OP’s place is to try to see if there’s maybe an addon or something that can do what he’s asking to (like keeping track of inidividual achievements).
It won’t be as convenient, but WoWhead does a great job of breaking down what individual characters have accomplished. It would at least allow you to continue to play.
I remember when I first had to start hovering over achievements to see what character’s had completed it. Annoying.
So, while I’m over it, and looking forward to Warbands, I do understand where you are coming from. I hope they can look to implement a toggle Warband/Character for when you are checking.
If not, I’m sure there would also be addons that could sort it out for you. Good luck, hope you keep playing!
Check pvp can be blocked via blizzard settings by disabling sharing game data under section privacy and security category.
Once that is done give it 30 days or so and there. You will be shielded from all third party websites that uses blizzard database. If you think you can circumvent that then good luck on trying.
I was upset because I (for myself and nobody else) worked on getting a set of achievements/points that Blizzard later completely removed from the game AFTER I had spent the time on getting them.
Which is pretty much what I already said if you read what I wrote above what you quoted.
Just because you play a certain way does not mean everyone plays that way.
Some take their time so they get the most from the game experience. Others rabidly rush rush rush through everything they can just to get to endgame and then stay there repeating things over and over, while 90% of the game is untouched. Some play 10hrs a day and some play 1 hr a day. No one is wrong. No one is right. Everyone is different.
I would like to be able to see what my current character has accomplished, even if they now share achievements and reputations with other characters. And statistics too. I hope that we can at least view these details.
Also, THANK YOU MOSSCLAW for understanding and typing great comments. I wish more would be as friendly and cool.
I honestly hate the grind, having to grind out the two renown I need on every character to get the recipes to further my crafters is annoying as can be, when they’re account wide I can relax and just go grab the recipes. I can use reputation tokens I’ve collected on an alt to boost the entirety of the renown for all my characters not just one of them. Eventually the account wide will spread to include Shadowlands rep and I can be even more relaxed not having to regrind out Death’s Advance for transmog outfits on three more characters
I think we will be able to see character progress as well as shared progress. That way everyone is happy.
There are hundreds of different ways of playing WoW. Some focus on PVP, some on Raids, some on Mythics, some on Alts, some on just one Main, some rush, some take their time, some do all xpacs and some do only part of one xpac. Everyone is different.
CLOSING DOWN THIS POST SO TROLLS CAN’T KEEP LEAVING MESSAGES. (* not all of us, just some)
yeah, thats gonna be impossible. lol. Cant even rid the forum of them, they’ll just start a new account to post with. lol
Personally Im for the changes, but I can see your points.
As someone mentioned, maybe an addon will help you out with what youre looking for when the time comes.
I used to have this feeling that it was weird for a character who had never met a faction before to suddenly be Exalted with them. That still feels odd to me however it’s simply a feeling and having those reps shared will not interfere with my enjoyment of the game. Ultimately they are all my characters and sharing their progress isn’t that awful an idea.
We already share a number of achievements, so I don’t think its all that big a deal to share more. And as for currencies - the soon the better. My characters do things for each other, so being able to do that more easily is a Good Thing imo.
You are the first person I’ve seen raise these complaints/concerns. So…many…they must be speaking in whispers.
I suspect someone will make an addon of some sort to enable people to track and record individual character things. Maybe keep an eye out on Curseforge or wherever to see if there is one.
Actually it’s not - its just a lot more limiting. I like to play my alts, its why I have them. If they get to share their joint endeavours and results, that makes me happy.
