I agree. I enjoy farming and put a lot of time into a lot of rare items, but if tomorrow they made it guaranteed drops it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest.
You answered your own question. You ask “what work” and then proceeded to detail the work.
No one is saying it’s challenging.
Work has a definition that can fit many activities. Farming the Garrosh shoulders takes work. That’s why people are complaining about it.
Yep?
If you want better odds then setup more chars.
Exactly and this is not meaninful gameplay, it doesn’t provide anything good to the state of the game.
That’s why we’ve this developer’s note
- Developers’ note: We’re smoothing out the rough edges in this epic meta-achievement to help players who are stuck on one of the more rare elements finally get that wheel mount!
And getting the tusks on your first run in twenty minutes is?
Who says that? they could do a progress like Legion Legendaries, every failed attempt just gives you a small % on the next run instead of the same value each time, as i mentioned Devs know there’s bad RNG, that’s why they changed Mechadone from nowhere.
I could say the same arguments that you mention about things like:
[Vinyl: Triumph of Gnomeregan] – Now a guaranteed drop from the Hard Mode version of the Reclamation Rig event. Which was 0.47% changed to 100%
etc there’s more examples.
This would kill all excitement in transmog farming. You essentially make every object a deterministic reward.
Mechadone is not equivalent to the tusks or other prized pieces like the tusks. And… get this… it doesn’t need to be either! It’s ok for things to have varying degrees of rarity in the game.
And that’s the goal at some point or they could just start at 1% and increase it to a cap, so it’s not deterministic but reached a better % drop rate. There’s a lot of ways to fix, they already did one by adding those to BMAH, however that gold sink has some issues too.
Nor is someone hiding behind a classic character thinking that the game NEEDS a .02% item because “muh efforts”.
There’s a difference between Hard mode reclamation rig, which requires a special tool, relies on other people letting you use the special tool in time, has a lengthy and widely varying spawn time, and a raid boss that is a static encounter that you can solo.
If you don’t see the difference then I’m not sure this conversation will be all that productive.
I’ve only seen them drop once that I can remember
I got them on my warlock and had to vendor them
My plate wearing classes wouldn’t mind a buff to the drop rate tho. I think I’ve only seen 2 or 3 people wearing them
It was the first example from changes, you don’t need people for some of the other changes:
Vinyl: Battle of Gnomeregan]– Drop rate increased from all hologram bosses.
Blueprint: Holographic Digitalization Relay– Drop rate increased from all hologram bosses.
Blueprint: Emergency Rocket Chicken]– [OOX-Fleetfoot/MG] respawns faster and no longer despawns if not killed by the end of its path.
- [OOX-Fleetfoot/MG] now has a Vignette star that pings the minimap when he races by if you are eligible to loot [OOX-Avenger/MG]
Paint Vial: Lemonade Steel– Droprate of increased. Duration of rain reduced, but the spawn rate of [Oxidized Leachate] is during rain is drastically increased (700% faster). [Oxidized Leachbeast] now has significantly more chances to spawn during rain.
Why they changed the chicken rare spawn but not soundless? There’s plenty of scenarios for the Mechadone achievement was still possible for solo players and they changed because it was bad RNG, the values were modified to a better perspective.
I mentioned soundless because other players are still waiting for some rares on Nazjatar for the meta achievement, same issues.
None of these are raid bosses. I’m not sure why you continue to try to compare things that aren’t raid bosses to raid bosses.
I’m not sure how else I can communicate this to you.
You were talking about “effort” “work”, I provided an example on which Devs already confirmed bad RNG and changed spawns, drop rates for players doing those, even if one is open world and the other is a piñata Boss now, because it’s not a fight anymore, the principle behind rewards with low drops it’s the same, this kind of time sinks are not required in the game.
There should be a better field between players with 1 character and collectors that had to level up multiple characters just to find a “kind” of work around to Blizzard designs.
Almost all post around RNG ask for the same, a deterministic goal or a better chance, the current design around those below 1% drops just damage the game.
No one can convince me mecha-done rng wasn’t something made out of spite. Finished my rank 4 paragons (all three), mechagon mini and both rare mount drops before I got the blueprints/orange paint/vinyl.
Such a terrible zone
I really would like to see more topics around cosmetics and reward design between Devs and Community, i know that the current player power are important but those are being discarded each expansion while a lot of cosmetics remain, a lot of those doesn’t appreciate player time, I’ll prefer a scenario with better chances not everything for free.
So any player could check a cosmetic a go for it while most of the time is dedicated to current endgame.
Other MMORPGs offer a different balance between collecting and endgame like FFXIV on which even their Devs mention that a player doens’t have to play all the time, which enables those players to try other games, due to the fact that those player like Final Fantasy franchise its more probable for a player from that playerbase to try other SE games.
I stopped playing OW, HS, Heroes in part because of some issues with each of those game and in other part because i consumed much of my time with specific cosmetics farms.
Devs could create more engage content for endgame content and provide other games instead of using RNG as time sinks.
I think time sinks could create a “quit moment” for some players that will find other games better with their time, WoW doesn’t generate too many new players and old players found every day more things that could trigger a quit moment.
Why?
Did you know a lot of folks used to have to boil water before drinking it. Should they have wished we all still do the same?
The I suffered, therefore you must, is such a sad way to view the world.
They could comfortably increase the drop rate to 1% (just like a mount) for any other iconic mogs they want to come up with… or just move it to the standard drop rates of all items for that boss if “rarity” doesn’t matter.
I don’t care either way.
I can assure you no one wants those tusks because you have them. They want them to RP as Garrosh. So let them.
I need the gladiator armor and mount from MoP so I can RP a badass. Make it so, Blizzard.
Agree! So long way to run for nothing
Because this isn’t related to food and survival? This is an obscure transmog item in a game with all sorts of transmog items, thousands and thousands, and you will never run into any situation where you NEED these shoulders. You just want them, and that’s fine, then go run the raid until you get them? Nobody is stopping you.
Asking to raise the drop percentage because YOU don’t want to put in the same effort is just lazy. You’re attempting to invalidate and belittle the effort other people before you put in because YOU are too lazy and want to get what you want “now”. I guess everything should just be handed to you because you want it eh? What else should they just make extremely easy to get?
I got news for you, the reason people even want the shoulders is because they’re rare. If it was a quest item dropped 50 times in the questing zones nobody would use them.
Personally attacking the guy who doesn’t agree with you throwing a fit because you can’t get something?
Lol. What else would you like to get for free? Please tell me I’m writing a letter to Santa right now
