Please make flying retroactive

Sorry OP, but I have to disagree only because they’ve made it far more easier to get the achievements required than if you had played it when it was current. Flying is nice, but it’s not necessary if you ACTUALLY think about it.

If they just handed out flying because you’ve passed the content, then why not give everyone all the Tmogs, mounts, toys, rewards, and profession recipes?

Blizz wants you to actually play their game (and get lots of $$ for time invested), and seeing that you don’t actually own an account per say, you just rent it from Blizz, I think you should play their game the way they want you to. (I’m not telling you to never make suggestions or anything, but understand that you may not get what yer asking for.)

As for the players who want flying, but only do PvP arena’s &/or BG’s… why do you need flying so bad if you don’t even do that content? If you really need something out in the wild, then you should muster up the motivation to do it regardless of flying capabilities or not.

This.

But hey who cares about other players right? … it’s about getting in front of the line and getting what you want without the work. Right?

Bowdidly,

Sorry, I wrote what you bolded poorly and I think you took it out of context, my mistake. I have no really issue with people having easier access to old content that I had to slog through when it was current.

Leveling services…ick. The less I say on that topic the better.

You’ve hit the past 5 expansion’s worth of changes on the head right there.

So I take it you care little to nothing for *New" players then  Don’t quit your day job, business is definitely not your forte!

I did it as current content.

Flying should not be a gated thing unless one considers making running or riding a ground mount or queueing for an instance or pvp worthy of similar gating.

I did it the hard way. If they want to make it a achievement that I did it the hard way and keep that option open for completion I’d be ok, but wouldn’t really care but some do if they did that.

My perspective is

in current expansion:

get one toon to max level

Do a short pathfinder quest (maybe an hours worth of simple not gated questing)

Unlock flying account wide retroactive to level 60

Each new expansion has a similar short pathfinder on first toon to max level, and get flying for that expansion.

Flying was never a problem until bliz made it a problem and those who want to stay on the ground can choose to, those who want to fly should have flying.

Actually I could accept flying once earned just exists. Maybe more or less safe to fly in some areas, but mounts don’t forget to fly, and neither do my toons.

What bakes my biscuits is in BFA zones I can’t fly, yet from the very start of the expansion talia is talking to her flying mount. Kinda felt / feels like having my nose rubbed in it.

Make flying just transportation.

build open world and other content around the ability to fly, not as just a way to short cut it

make zones large instead of micro with mobs so packed ya can’t turn around without pulling agro on 50 mobs.

Simple things.

Used to be relatively safe to walk a road and not agro mobs, not true today.

Could be quests that lower agro range since things like animals learn not to attack characters since they die, or are hunted for skins, or killed for being invaders etc.

As for schadenfreude: There is something wrong with someone gaining pleasure out of others being denied pleasure. Perhaps psychiatric help would be valuable to such people in the real world. It reveals a trait that to me is a huge character flaw and is unworthy of a good person. JMHO

SO aye, that’s my take, and I wish bliz would realize the bad will that making flying a pain generates for them.

Even the fake it messes up world pvp no longer holds water since WM is elected, and there are things like net o matic to dismount flyers.

Bliz claims they want fun to be the over arching thing about WOW.

Here is a clue bliza:
Flying is F U N

You’re right. I do not. They will have to go through all of the content from day 1. As it should be.

Remember when we could have access to flying without grinding and jumping through hoops? Those days were nice. Your comparison makes no sense. It’s similar to “well if we had the option to teleport anywhere anytime…” or “what if you could click a button to have BiS gear…” it’s just out of the scope of reality.

It is optional. Players who played at the time experienced that content for 9 months without flying. There is literally no reason you need to have it.

The same reasons pathfinder is there, still apply in old content. To make sure you experience the content on the ground first before you can fly. Just be grateful they don’t expect you to experience that content for 9 months before you can prove to them you have.

If they returned flight to being a gold sink, it would cost significantly more than that. Folks complain about the cost of things now, that would just be another log on the fire.

I’ll take Pathfinder for account-wide flight that takes no actual effort to earn anyway. I got Part 1 in 16 days, only because I missed the Tortollan emissary that was up on launch day. That was just from playing the game.

Why do you think ‘new’ players want a game that gives them everything ?

You’ll be glad you did. That’s the only reason I did WoD during Legion, and I’m so glad I did. WoD is trivial with flight and Legion is a breeze too.

For this to work, the whole expac should scale to max level and get us appropriate rewards. THAT’s what you got when content was current. You weren’t “wasting your time” because you got rewarded with level appropriate “things” (Reputations, dailys, gear, and more).

On the other hand, for max level character there is NO reward. I can argue that it is not fair to us to NOT get ANY rewards for out time.

Frankly I’ve always thought the way FF14 does it is the best. You finish the story in one zone, do some exploring, and you get to fly there. It should work the same way here. Finish the story in each zone, explore all of them, and then you can fly.

I’ve always thought it was sort of ridiculous the way typical WoW players react to this sort of thing. We’re talking about something as innocuous as flying, which we used to get just for finishing the initial content, but now we should have to “earn it”?? :woman_shrugging:

And grind rep! I started the second day this game went live. I leveled a few from 1 to 120 but I wouldn’t see anyone endure the torture, that is, rep grinding, just to fly! That’s a relatively new punishment handed down from the powers that be!

For all those arguing ‘I had to go with out flying for the expansion when it was relevant!’ for WoD and Legion. Where is your argument for TBC, WotLK and MoP for where you can now fly from the get go? ‘We had to wait until max level of that expansion back then!’

Who cares. It’s old content now. More importantly, irrelevant content that most just want to power level through to catch up on the giant gap to end game now.

If WoD and Legion was relevant to players apart from leveling through it. Maybe locking flying behind pathfinder would have some merit.

That’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. And since I am quite sure we will never see eye to eye on this, being a vanilla stress-test beta player myself and having the same perspective, I’ll bid you a good day.

I’ll remember how unfair it is next time I don’t get a medal for beating a bunch of 10-year olds in a pick-up basketball game.

You get flying which you claim is of value and it is easier, faster for you to do now. You also get an achievement and a mount. PLUS you don’t have to wait 9 months to get flying.

You are getting a pretty good deal.

I said exactly this and you told me I was being obnoxious. Can’t make this stuff up.

Exactly my point. Would you enjoy beating 10yo in basketball for 30 straight hours ? No ?

Me nether, so give me something to motivate me to do this pathfinder
