PLEASE let us disable threads of fate!

i’ve gotten to level 57 on my paladin just doing maldraxxus and revdreth’s side quests with some world quests thrown in

^This right here.

Still, I don’t understand why Blizzard would punish people who like playing lots of alts. We went through the same long, grindy, sluggish, boring, linear main campaign line as everyone else. So it’s not like we are somehow cheating everyone else by having better alt leveling experiences—IF only it was better and not as bad or worse than the main campaign quest.

Too bad Bastion is the most tedious and boring zone in the expansion.

Removing the xp bonuses from heirlooms was basically a slap in the face to us.

I paid $20 for gold last year just to level all my heirlooms and they helped TEN of my alts reach 120 in quick order. Now what? They’re merely (light) blue gear that level with you? Whoopee.

Yes yes there was it said…

This will make you unable to do the main story quest and you will need to level with world quests, dungeons, and pvp. You knew what you was getting into.

Then there was a warning saying the same thing. Which made you type FATE to confirm.

Threads of fate is good because you get to alternate between it and the story for alts. This changes up the leveling experience. Also for threads of fate you get to choose where to level to change it up each time. I think it’s a good thing for alts if you don’t want to replay the story many times.

I completed the zone quest and got nearly 4 levels out of Maldraxxus on my warlock, and that was with at least 2 sidequest hubs still completely untouched. That was also just this evening.

It’s really simple. Queue up for an instance. While you’re waiting on the queue, find a sidequest hub near a bonus objective or WQ, and get done multiple at the same time. In the north of Maldraxxus, there’s a quest chain that has you kill 15 devourers, and then there was a WQ that had you kill 15 of any mob in the area, and another WQ that had you kill 8 of a specific type of devourer and do some clicking.

Completed all 3 at the same time with barely any extra effort. And then you get intermittent instances, and instance quests, to boot. Add in the ~third of a level and free weapon from each zone completion quest, and it’s remarkably fast. And the best part is, you’re not constantly having to cancel out of cutscenes and deal with looooooooong monologues and RP sessions.

why would normal people compare and take what “speedrunners” say as the all mighty truth?

if you leveled your first character in 12 hours it’s not like you’re going to level much faster, it’s your speed in the end…

I’ve seen different ways to do it… leveling to 55 (not sure why 55) then get ToF and from there get to 60.

I’ve been leveling my first alt normally and now that I’m 55 I’m thinking about it.

the natural end point for Bastion if you do all the quests is 55 with like 60% of the way to 56 without excessively killing tons of extra mobs just because. and the Bastion quests are relatively fast (not as fast as Maldraxxus however).

Its the only reason why people suggest Bastion to 55 and then ToF to 60, there are obviously other ways but this way is relatively simple and pain free instead of harsh ToF grinding from 50->60

The threads of fate system leveling is fine, but it doesn’t work the same as story progression with quest XP gains. Instead of getting, let’s say, about 8000 xp per quest in story mode, threads of fate gives smaller amounts of xp for a number of quests then a massive drop of xp for a major quest and so on. I just confirmed this when I spent a few hours playing, a hand in of a major quest just netted me 67850 xp at lvl 55.
Yes, you do tend to grind in the same place more for longer on bonus objectives, but overall the leveling speed is balanced(if you do this as a party you can clear out the bonus objectives insanely fast).

I agree that it would be nice to have the option to disable Threads of fate if we want to, whether this could be done as easily as you might think is another matter though … the potential mess around calculating xp level and original story progression in the reverse might be tricky

EDIT: The quest that gave me the large amount of XP was the last one in the threads of fate quest for Maldraxxis that rewards you the blue weapon

Where did you get all the transmog? I picked threads of fate and got no new transmog? Did you have to do something after?

Nice necro. How long did it take for you to scroll down to necro a dead thread from 2 years ago just to reply to someone who hasn’t posted since early last year?

It’s the same sets you would have gotten if you did the campaign.

No matter how fast you go in game you’re still going have to do the campaign at 60 so the grind will be boring no matter what. I got three up during the buff we had. Now for the sloooow grind on top of leveling. Best of luck .

I think you misspelled “Ardenweald” with its half hour of unskippable RP walking.
