It’s not like the entire original dev team left at once, but a lot did right around then. The main guys, actually. Went to Project Titan…which fell apart.
Yes, to some degree devs leave after 5 years but its not like a entire new team worked on Cata and beyond. Besides, Cata was developed around end of TBC times, which shockingly makes Cata very similar to Wrath.
Not much to be honest. Original naxxramas was revamped. And alot of that stuff and boss drops were gone. As well as some of the abilities and talents changed here and there. And original onyxia lair was gone as well as some armor pieces and stuff you also couldn’t get anymore.
Other than that. Anything In wrath I can do in vanilla. I just feel like wrath was the most complete version of the game with the original overworld kept intact mainly.
And I don’t like vanilla. People keep mentioning the fact that vanilla wow has era servers and has the original overworld intact. But to heck with vanilla. Wrath was better.

5 years? The gap of time between WC1 development, which had to have started around '92 or so, and Cata is more like 18 years. So yes, I’m sure some had moved on by then. But then people sometimes come back… like Metzen. I remember Ghost Crawler having alot to do with Cata gameplay, but don’t remember if he was new at the time.

Just to throw my hat in here with a slightly different take.
- I actually like modern WoW and how it plays, and all of the QoL features it has.
- Wrath Era is the best version of Classic EK and Kalimdor that I can play as they’ve added a lot (but not all) of the modern QoL features of modern that I like.
- I would much rather they bring classic Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms into modern, but I know why that is likely to never happen.
- As such, barring item 3 from ever happening, I’d like them to keep a Wrath Era server, exacty as it is right now, going so I can live here instead.
I don’t raid or PvP, so Cata doesn’t really have anything to offer a player like me that I can’t already access in modern. I have a Classic Era character, and an SoD character, but of the three versions available this one is my favorite by a mile. I like my mounts and my pets in a tab. I like the token so I’m not broke all of the time. I like the convenience of LFD.
In short, this version of the game, as it is right now, is the best one for me.
All of that said, I have no illusions that Blizzard is going to change their mind, but after ping-ponging between the three game modes I’ve settled on this one and have decided I’m just to enjoy my time until Cata happens. After that, I’ll be going back to Era.
Sure would be nice if I didn’t have too though.

There you go trolling me again. It was not the original dev team. Don’t call what I say to be tin foil hat theories in every single post that you make to me when it is an absolute fact.
That is right when everyone began leaving. You can see the diference between WoTLK and Cata. They revamped the old world, removed most of the class specific quests, changed the talent point system to give only one point every other level, removed multiple spells and abilities and made them passive. Only had 5 levels to get to and those went up really fast. Changed the glyph system entirely, made it to where cloth, plate, mail, leather all had the exact same values so that physical (white) damage) would effect every armor type the same now. Changed the health pools as well.
Very little about Cata feels like you are still playing the original World of Warcraft. Cata is not Classic WoW. IT was made by a different dev team. Not a conspiracy theory. It’s a fact.
I never liked him. He actually went out of his way to nerf paladins and even said on multiple occasions that his favourite thing to do was to nerf paladins. I’m sure Yehmi will say that I am making that up as well and that he did not actually say that, then they will ask for a link…yea they do that with almost everything that I post.
And nope… not making it up what I said about Ghostcrawler either.

Bumping this as a vote for Classic Wrath Era servers. I personally think hardcore and these seasons of whatever are a waste of time and resources.

Warcraft team did not make World of Warcraft sir. No idea where this tinfoil hat theory comes from.
While they def started before 2004, the OG team was working in 2004. Blizzard didn’t just fire every dev team once Vanilla was out.
Chris Metzen and Mike Morhaime were both there in the mid 90’s. But yes it was different teams. Just as there’s no way all the people woking on WOW in 1999 were still there 2009. In fact, 2009 is the year Ghost Crawler came in and took over the project.

Funny, if people make a new thread…they are spamming. They use a thread that already exists for their subject matter they are…necroing.
It all just boils down to weather they agree with your view or not. If not, you are doing something awful and unforgivable. There for your point (they disagree with) is null and void.

I just find it frustrating. Like we will stop bumping and creating threads when blizz actually communicates and responds. All we have is, well, we aren’t making permanent wrath classic threads currently. Which isn’t a definite yes or no. Although some people have argued with me thinking that it is lol.
They also stated they were listening to feedback to for permanent wrath classic servers to. And for those who don’t bloody believe me, it’s on wowhead with a quick google search. Won’t let me post links for some reason.
So yes, they are considering permanent wrath classic servers. But man, that was months ago. I just find it frustrating that they haven’t responded yet.
Now, I don’t hate cataclysm. I really don’t. But it did destroy alot of the stuff I did love about wow in wrath. And it would be nice to preserve king of a mix of both worlds. And wrath did it better than vanilla classic or bc classic did. And way better than classic plus and som and hardcore classic did in my op. Like those options have nothing on wrath classic in my op.
Also, while the petition for permanent wrath classic servers have more or less rounded out now. Here is the link for those interested and for those who still want to sign. It has a goal of 1000. And 743 have signed so far. Which is more than it was when I last looked. It was at 700. So it steadily and slowly climbing. The petition is also a quick google search for wrath classic.
So people who say there is zero interest in wrath classic. You are wrong. It does have interest. And blizz states they are listening to feedback. They just haven’t responded yet and it’s been months now. So I will keep posting and waiting every so often until they respond to us.

They did communicate. No Wrath Era servers.
Right now it’s basically…you. You bump the Wrath Era threads. Everyone else has moved on and accepted it.
Not what they said zaalg. So be quiet. They never said, No wrath servers. They said, no wrath servers currently. We are listening to feedback. That is what they said.
And I. Will never move on and accept it. Ever lol.
So stop telling me to move on because I never will move on.

They also said “plans for RDF at this time”, as well. At one point they said flat out said, no flying…then we got pathfinder to get flying. Reality is, we are wait and see mode.
