PLEASE keep a permanent WOTLK era server for us blizzard!

Right off the top of my head, sir there is one achievement no longer in existence in Cata that used to exist in Wrath. That was the “Did Somebody Order a Knuckle Sandwich?” achievement for raising your skill in Unarmed to 400. IIRC, Cataclysm did away with raising a character’s skill in a weapon the character was trained in through combat. It also removed all the weapon skill trainers from the game. The character’s skill in whatever weapon he/she can use in combat automatically maxes out at the current level. In my honest opinion, this mechanic defeats the purpose of weapon skill achievements as there will be nothing to achieve. There will no longer be a sense of “mastering” your weapon the more you wield it. No learning curve, no development, just “Ding! Your skill in One-Handed Swords increased by 5.”.

Earning the aforementioned achievement is something I would personally like to do while Wrath Classic is still alive. I sincerely hope this answers your question, sir. Have a blessed day, be safe, and stay healthy.

no you will play cata and like it

Yes, sir I remember when Blizzard removed the Swift Zulian Tiger mount, and they replaced it with the Swift Zulian Panther. I still to this very day can’t wrap my head around why they would switch out one cat model mount for another. Why not just keep the cat model they already had in that particular raid? Or here’s an idea: add the panther mount and keep the tiger, so players can have the chance to win both of them along with the raptor mount. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

I did the 2 weapon skill related achievements on my Mage, I was just smacking the Mecha-Gnomes in Storm Peaks.

Nope! Where were yall when TBC wasn’t getting a server? To cata you go have fun

Heck. I wouldn’t of minded the tiger being a color swap to the white tiger pallete or something. I wanted the zulian tiger so bad. And I was hoping I could do it endlessly on permanent wrath classic servers. But no. They are forcing everyone into cataclysm again.

I second continuing with a permanent* Wrath Era set of servers. (*within reason, naturally)
I know I speak only for myself here, but I am actually excited to move on to Cataclysm, or rather, the option to move on.

The state of the game in Wrath is far from perfect, but it is an absolute blast to play and I enjoy it immensely.
The changes to the core game with the launch of Cata are IMMENSE, and it may as well be a different game (something I don’t think is necessarily a bad thing at all!)

But it is the year 2024 AD, we have the means (and Blizzard has made it clear that hosting the game in it’s older states is a drop in the bucket for cost), and there are certainly enough people asking for the option. If given the ability, I will copy (or bring) my Wrath characters to Cata when I feel good and ready. I want to have that progression, absolutely, but It would be wonderful to choose WHEN, rather than be forced to move onto such a drastically different world. With Cata, EVERYTHING changed, not just the world. The spirit evolved with it, for good and ill.

Not going forward with TBC era servers I understand. It didn’t bring nearly as much as Wrath did to the table, and we can still more or less enjoy and benefit from TBC content in Wrath without too much issue!

Please, Blizz. You’ve given so much care and love to Classic-Classic. Consider Wrath worthy, as well.

If it’s about numbers, then remember we’re only human. We can’t just play multiple instances all at once, as much as some of us wish we could. It isn’t competition between eras, it’s choice. And should we be given the choice, it will be beneficial for all eras.

At the same time, they have shown in the past that they don’t want people doing private servers either. I mean, they did shut down nostalrius. And private servers will be the only way to play wrath classic if blizzard doesn’t do them. Which I don’t really endorse.

No. Keep Wrath servers in. Everything that was in TBC was also in Wrath. Cata was the first expac that actually removed things from WoW that had been there from launch. As soon as Cata comes out, I’m unsubbing and will be done with WoW for good.

Cata isnt Classic. I wanted to play Classic. My entire guild QUIT Wrath the second that Cata was announced. The fact that Cata is coming out means that we are going into MoP and beyond soon… How long until we are playing Dragonflight Classic? So yea this whole thing has become ridiculous. The ENTIRE Classic world exists through all of Wrath. it is in Cata when the Classic world gets destroyed and when the talent points get messed up and when the BG titles come back into game that many people spent months grinding out.

I’ll still be playing Wrath…just a version that Blizzard is running. This is proof yet again that they do not listen to what the players truly want. No one, NO one asked for Cata Classic to come out. People kept asking for Wrath and TBC and the level 60 version. The entire world that Cata changed is still in game right now today. Only the talent trees are the main difference now and that JUST happened.

Nothing about Cata is in any way, shape or form Classic. Cata IS retail WoW. Made by the exact same dev team that runs WoW now.

They tolerate private servers and make sure that they keep in their own lane. Blizzard wants Pservers to be niche, when they get too big Blizzard will shut them down. Nostalrius got shut down because it flew too close to the sun, it got so popular that it caught Blizzards attention and they shut it down, it was by far the most popular Pserver which sparked Classic WoW and where we are today.

Drop down of my responses to Aovona

I mean, the entirity of Naxx/Onyxia 40 was removed in WotLK, 9 full tier sets, 9 T2 head pieces, a legendary… The removal of Naxx 40 was pretty significant.

I mean it is Classic, but I get your point.

And it exists in Classic Era, just not Northrend and Outland (though I assume you don’t care about Outland).

Yes, the world gets destroyed, hence the name Cataclysm. They had to rework the world for flying in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, Deathwing was the perfect scapegoat for that.

Personally I like them, much better than the long line of talents we have now, MoP though… Not a fan of that.

Ah yes, meaningless titles that only show how much time you spend playing BG’s… Honestly to me it’s not really impressive to have even in actual Vanilla WoW.

I asked for it, not to them but I was looking forward to the prospect of Cata Classic happening.

Okay, so you’re just going to ignore 6 expansions worth of systems and boil it down to just the talent trees being different and then we have retail?

And you’re free to have that opinion.

And it because it was hosted in Europe (France).

Their brains are stuck in Cata. It’s a nightmare for them. They have PTSD wiping in heroic dungeons, over and over and getting bullied (by friends and randoms) for being bad.
They haven’t played Retail past level 10 for the past 10 years so they think Dragonflight is Cataclysm. At least that’s the only way I can explain it.

I honestly have zero desire to play Cata myself. I love Wrath so much and Cata destroyed everything I love about the game. I HATE the world getting destroyed. I like to go farm for low level ore in Thousand Needles and in Cata it’s underwater. Like wtf. I seriously doubt I will continue to play if we don’t have permanent Wrath servers.

See you in Cataclysm

The funny part is by the end of Cata the Heroic dungeons were fine. We were rolling them. And those are the versions we’re getting in Cata Classic. Until Mythic Lite dungeons come and will be a toxic, gatekept nightmare. The casual masses will once again quit…if any are still around at that point.

Yeah, I’m a paying customer. The content I paid for shouldn’t be put on a time limit

Statistically speaking, you probably wont see them in Cata. Cata was the very first expac in WoW history to lose subs almost all the way through and also was the first one to end with far less than it began with. Cata was the beginning of the end for WoW. That was the expac that began the drop in subs where subs dropped and kept dropping and have been dropping pretty much all the way since up until Legion came out, then they began to drop again after that.

Cata was full of false advertising. They showed Deatwing all over in previews, said he would be a massive part of the plot and storyline for Cata…he wasnt. Not at all. The vast majority of Cata is focused on stopping the Twilight Cult. It has very little to do with Deathwing. And then the rest has to do with the elementals. Even when you go in to the prepatch it is tripping the rifts prelaunch event to stop the elementals. They screw up the talent trees to give you 1 talent every other level. You only level 5 levels in it and you hit level cap super fast.

It had the longest patch in WoW history as well which caused so many people to unsub from the game.

The old world was destroyed…the world that is known as “Classic”. Multiple quests were removed as well. If you want to play Cataclysm? Log into Dragonflight. it is pretty much the same exact game only difference is that DF is Cata with more content. DF is Cata+. Cata changed the world and that world that was changed to in Cata exists right now today in retail WoW. Cata IS retail. But you say “Oh but Cata added RBGs”…um…dont we have RBGs right now even to this very day?

What about LFR? Yea. That came out in Cata too. What about the phasing for the quests? That began in Cata…making it very, VERY difficult to quest with friends as you had liner quests and if you were not on the EXACT same part of the quest chain, you could group with them, but could not see them or heal them or even quest with them.

Just tell me in what way is Cata classic? It has much, MUCH more in common with retail WoW than it does with anything Classic WoW. The dev team that made WoW, then WoW TBC then WoW Wrath…they all left right around Cata time. The team that replaced them…is the team that we have working on WoW right now. So in every way shape or form, Cata IS retail and is NOT Classic. Cata is retail WoW.

And hope you like guild levels. Cuz you’re not going to be doing much without a level 25 guild during Cata. Want your looms> Get guild rep to get them.

You couldn’t even get the best guild rewards until you got exalted with your guild and that took months to get exalted at the very minimum. If you played Cata all day every day then it would take you almost 10 weeks just to get exalted with our guild. Need a new guild? Then spend over 9 more weeks getting to exalted with that guild all over again just so that you can play the way you need to.

Look and see how many guilds exists now that have the FoS for guild level 25. It is pretty rare to see a level 25 guild and Classic Cata has even less people playing than the original. You couldn’t even play the game the way it was meant to be played in Cata unless you were exalted with your guild. Leave the guild, start the grind all over again.

Very easy to get your guild to level 25 by questing btw. Not a grind in any way. Super quick and easy way to get up fast. All you have to do is 14,095 quests and your guild is level 25. Just over 14k quests is all. And there is a cap on how fast it can level too.

And the same people who complain about gate keeping nonstop on these forums are the same exact people who want Cata to come and Wrath to end when Cata will cause a lot of you to become gate kept out of joining a level 25 guild. And you pretty much have to play with almost entirely guild members in Cata to get the xp and the perks. At least 80% of your group has to be all guild members, if not, you get zero credit.

So funny how every single person here does not want to play Classic WoW. Everyone here wants to play retail WoW. Well? In a matter of a few weeks, you got your retail WoW back. Most people will not be playing Cata sorry to say but we wont. Be a lot in the very beginning but…na. Its retail WoW.

They literally worship Deathwing. That is what the Twilight Cult is.

Cataclysm isn’t Retail, to suggest it is asinine.

My point that I was making that went right over you is that the expac is barely focused on Deathwing at all. It is focused on things that are slightly about him, bit not much. And also, it is not truly just about that. It mainly focuses on the elements and how they reacted s well. And also…Stormwind gets destroyed and stays that way for the entire expac. Org gets an upgrade. Cata was also the first expac that was made not using the original dev team that created the original World of Warcraft.

WC1 , WC2, WC2 expac, WC3, WC3 xpac, WoW1, WoW TBC and Wrath all made by the same group of people. Everything Cata and beyond was not created by the original dev team.
