It is possible, but not obvious how.

Put some concrete walls and bars on that setup and it sounds like a passable state prison.

Not everyone who keeps their profile on private is some evil bad guy.

It’s kinda nice ppl can’t see when you type.

Tell them to haunt me.

It’s also nice when people can’t stalk the ‘Last Seen’ part of your profile and start their “what’s wrong too scared to respond?” ramblings.

It is actually possible.

Click your portrait, top right on the screen.
Click the bell icon
Click preferences
Click Users
Under the ‘ignore’ section, click “add”
Start typing in the name of the person, wait for them to show up in the quick pick.
Select a timeframe
Click Ignore
Click Save Changes

Do something similar with the mute section if you feel like it.

wait wut? Dude, you need to go out side and get some fresh air, all that motorcycle exhaust can’t be good for you…

If you are flagging that many people, it is probably a YOU problem.

Right? “Too scared to respond.” Lmao. What a joke. Does that make you laugh as much as me?

It’s like no dude, I either forgot or I went silent on you because you’re not entertaining me anymore. :stuck_out_tongue:

Between that and those who follow you cross-forum, it’s a good thing private mode exists. The only thing it doesn’t do sadly is nuke posting history to make it harder for stalking, but oh well.

How do you, as a player, ‘confirm’ a sockpuppet? All you have is speculation and assumption, and no actual proof. Yes, comparing achievements and collections is a fairly good indicator, but it isn’t airtight.

i flagged this tbh

Glad you were able to answer your own question!

Same achievements with the same dates? Check.
Same exact pets? Check.
Same pet lineup? Check.
Same mounts? Check.

Yeah, if all of those match (ESPECIALLY the pets), I’d say that’s pretty airtight

Or do you not understand how pets work at the account level?

Prove that two characters with identical pet collections are on the same account.

The only thing I’m disputing is your assertion that a player can know with absolute certainty that two characters exist on a single license.

If you think someone is sockpuppeting, go ahead and report your suspicions to Blizzard. They have the data to know for sure, so let them do the legwork.

As an aside, my favorite part of your OP is where your sixth bullet point references itself:

Problem: Using alts on the forums is not against the rules. Blizzard isn’t going to do anything regardless of whether they are or not.

Also, in addition to what they said, most people hiding behind alts aren’t nearly as clever as they think are and behavioral cues give them away.

You can’t “prove” anything, but then again you can’t prove we’re not living in a simulation either. Yet you can certainly infer such regardless, and are probably correct to do so.

Typos happen. It’s the internet.

Same pet lineup in the exact same slots? Check.
Same exact pets with the same exact level and names in the collection? Check.

And for some extra verification for funsies:

Same common achievements? Check.
Same common mounts? Check.
Note the last two items do require character logins, so they’re not always in sync, but can be close enough when pets are considered.

The odds of two people having the same pets, the same pet lineup, the same mounts and the same achievements are very, very, very low.

Case in point: what are the odds that both you and https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/us/illidan/quibbixx are different people?

The answer: basically 0.

Unless someone has managed to never pick up a single pet, ever, it’s a pretty dead giveaway. Even the total absence of all pets is rare.

The odds that a collection with the same exact pets would be leveled to the same exact levels are pretty astronomical.

For example:

How many people out there have so many pets but have never put a single level on any of them? How many people have those exact 239 pets, including rare-ish ones like Daisy, the Guardian Cub, almost all the Collector’s Edition pets, and not one of them with even one more level?

The odds would be mind-blowing. It would speak to an inhuman level of dedication to mimic someone’s pet collection exactly, most of the time.

That you. Because it just is, nearly irrefutably. The odds that it isn’t are so high as to be functionally impossible.

Precisely.

They would need to mirror your pet lineup. Anytime you swap a pet out, they’d have to do it too.

Anytime you level up a pet, change its rarity, add it, rename it…yeah, that’s not going to happen.

Pets alone are usually more enough to determine alts. Achievements/mounts are much more useful when the pet count is very low.

And the pet collection and the ones you have slotted update in realtime. If you were to log in right now and start dumping pets right after posting, if someone brought up both your characters they’d still see a match.

Achievements are harder to verify by, all someone needs to do is check “only show character achievements” and it’ll be dramatically different on the two characters.

But not zero.

Yet you don’t have the data to prove with absolute, 100% certainty the two characters exist on the same license. But, I gotta ask, were you trying to shame or embarrass me? If you want a list of my alts, just ask. Quibixx is one of maybe a dozen. I’m happy to give you their names so you can rest easy knowing whether or not I sockpuppet. Better yet, we can make a game of it. You guess my alts, and I’ll let you know if you’re right.

Edit - and one I use so infrequently that I’m apparently prone to misspelling his name.
