Please fix auto-silence

Why should it matter if they want to see it or not? We have rules for a reason no?

So we just let mob mentality rule?

Both in game and in the real world it seems.

Except in the video he even shows that the silence system was not supposed to punish players at all until a gm had reviewed the reports. He did it to prove Blizzards post as a lie, and in response Blizzard suspends him. Thats hilarious honestly.

This sounds like how someone can get me suspended from the forums for 3 days by false reporting me, but if I make a forum post about it to complain after the suspension is over then I’m actually violating tos by discussing my suspension. Its like saying “We don’t care that you were falsely punished, and if you choose to complain about it we’ll punish you for that as well.”

Customers who pay Blizzard and want Blizzard to remove the people being disruptive in chat. So yes, I suppose those people who pay more as a group have some sort of say in the environment of their server.

That said, appeals exist for a reason and if someone were to actually get a Silence applied incorrectly, they can ask for it to be removed. This is important because it doubles in duration each time the Silence is applied.

So Blizzard thinks this is okay?

You are such an optimist and put so much faith in the wonderful wow community to self police and never ever do anything malicious. I wish I played the wow you talk about.

Look just the kind of person who really plays this game. Who cares if it’s allowed, REPORT THEM!

The problem though is the need to ask for an appeal in the first place. I understand that you are not Blizzard, nor do you work for them, so I am not blaming you for this. However personally I find it a little ridiculous that players are falsely punished at all and that Blizzard could even begin to consider it as acceptable.

should be against ToS in some way.

Why you gotta be so down on yourself?

He was ignorant of the existence of the Squelch system which had been in game for years before Silence even started.

Dude had an agenda and set out out to “prove it”. He proved that Squelch works to stop spammers temporarily. He also proved that organizing false reporting will get you not just Silenced, but Suspended from game. Which is the penalty he got.

No, you won’t get suspended from the forums unless you either break the Code of Conduct or a Forum Mod makes a mistake. Also yes, they do not allow you to post about specific disciplinary actions on your account.

Although, if you do want to ask, you should be heading to the CS forum where the Forum Support Agents can see the whole history and know what actually happened.

I already linked one of those for you
claiming to be persecuted in game when it turns out they really were breaking lots of rules.

Seriously. How is this not an actionable offense? Person is blatantly abusing the system, and basically bragging about doing it.

nice. i’m sick of seeing people talk about anime in /2. you’re saying if i can find a bunch of people who will agree to report anime talkers with me, we can get them suspended even enough they’re not breaking any rules? that’s kind of a weird moderation policy.

That’s exactly what they are saying, and if you read the vague policies, it seems like it’s the intention as well.

Sorry, but this is false. I got a 3 day suspension for a “real life threat” because I posted a screenshot of a damage number. I obviously appealed, but the ticket lasted 3 days and by then my suspension was over, so the gm just marked it as resolved and closed the ticket.

Which means I technically just broke ToS right? I just posted why I got suspended, even though what I got suspended for wasn’t against ToS.

People will report you for spamming if you send 1 message a day if you send it at peak hours.

Trade chat, or General chat, are suggestions - not mandates as to what has to be discussed.

A conversation may be something you are not interested in, but unless someone is spamming the same phrase/variation of a phrase over and over then Blizz won’t get involved and it would be overturned if a GM messes up.

The Spam report is for advertising or actual nonsense statements that flood chat - could be guild recruitment, carries, mage portals, [body part] spam, etc. If the server feels they have seen the same thing too much a gm can act on it if they feel it is valid.

Got him lol

This seems highly unlikely, unless maybe you left your capslock on? Or you post the same disruptive message every single day?

Under normal circumstances I would think you are exaggerating.

Which is gross and why I pretty much just stopped talking in-game outside of guild channels and messages to friends. Last thing I want is to incur the wrath of some dude and get falsely punished because of it. I’ve already had it happen to me and Blizzard did nothing.

Also, keep in mind that just because they don’t want to hear it that doesn’t mean it is against the rules. CS should take action against players who constantly abuse the “squelch” system inappropriately.

it’s not common, sure. but you’ve seen how anti-boosting some people on the forums are? Is it really that hard to believe that people will just report the 1st message someone sends in a day because other people were spamming the same thing?
