Please explain what raider io is in layman's terms

Whoosh.

Good job being dense.

The goal of both gearscore and raiderio is to filter out potential group mates.

And one is experience based with logged runs and the other had no real identification of how you got the gear.

incorrect, you could have bought the mythic+ carries as the same as you bought gear for gearscore.

They are the same in that aspect as well…

Subjective based on group leader’s preference. Group leader can set ridiculous standards, or be realistic, depending on shenanigans.

Short version: Doing high keys of various instances. Using your example, yes if you complete a 5 in time, if you do a 6 or a 7 in time of the same dungeon, your score will go up somewhat. If you do all keys on high levels such as 10 and up, you will have a much higher score. Raider IO rates / scores you depending on individual performance / success in each BFA dungeon.

To answer your title question: Raider IO is a tool for the pug world to filter out the good and the bad based on immediately understood numbers and such. In other words, schmuck B has a much higher IO score than schmuck A. Schmuck B is taken because clearly he’s the better person for the jerb.

Saw a +6 in group finder yesterday that said ā€œchecking io scoreā€ I just laughed.
Once you get 8+ I’d say io score would be required

And you can see every run so if they have a few random keys with mega geared or high io players you can actually spot carries.

You can see progression in increasing key levels run.

A ton of info in raider.io as opposed to gesrscore and you cant identify if it was a paid carry or not.

What ever the leader wants it be and or the person that has the key…

Do higher keys in time…
It’s not rocket science

It only uses your highest score for each dungeon. If you’ve already completed an 11 FH on time, then completing a 9 FH will not change your score.

You didn’t really answer my question at all but I appreciate the reply.

Then I dont understand what you are asking. Could you rephrase it?

I believe this is largely based on who you run with. If you’re only running with people from your server, no, i don’t believe it will count. If you run with someone from a medium/low pop server though, it will count, as it will register it on their server.

At least that’s how it used to be. If anything has changed i haven’t heard about it.

For example, check out this link.

It shows each realm’s leaderboard. Some dead realms have a couple hundred spots open for scores meaning an untimed +2 will count. Other realms like Azralon and Barthilas have their leaderboards completely full and showing the minimum run as a 10 or 11 in time.

My question is, if you are on one of these ā€œfull leaderboardā€ realms that are at a 10/11 in time such as Azralon and Barthilas, and you complete a +8 in time on a dungeon that your previous best was a +3, will that score count?

To reword the question…
I am on Azralon server. The highest I have completed on Freehold is a +3. I group up with my buddies tonight and complete a +8 in time. The leaderboards are full on Freehold up to a +11 @ 28:23. What happens to my score?

A player driven scoring system to mitigate trolls.
Completing dungeons in time earlier in the week.

Your raider IO score? Nothing different. You just get the normal score value for that dungeon.

If you mean your scoreboard score, I have no clue.

by ā€œmitigate trollsā€ do you mean ā€œformalize trolling?ā€

It is just yet another way people can belittle other people and feel superior to them even though they are at the same ilvl.

It is just another way to step over people and lay claim to being better than them.

That is all it is.

Well it didn’t work as well, but that was the intent when Blizzard said they are not going to add any type of punishment since they couldn’t find a way to do it.

Apparantly the player-base hasn’t either and its being used as ’ I ma better than you tool"

Hmm confused really. So you are saying that leaderboard score is different than io score?

I thought they were one and the same.

Yeah, but its just comparing your raider io score to everyone elses. Your score is your score. Its just a listing of everyone elses score from highest to lowest.

I had a buddy just link me this reddit. I will link part of it here that pertains to what we are talking about. I think we both may be mistaken. If you are on a low pop server then odds are you have never ran into this problem like people on higher pop realms.

3. Raider.io and getting into groups

Raider.io is is a website which tracks mythic plus dungeon runs. It has a corresponding addon, which allows you to see peoples scores ingame. People use this score as a quick reference to pick people to join their groups. This is much preferable to people strictly getting picked by ilvl, but the question becomes: how do I raise my score when I need a score to get picked in the first place? The problem is further exaggerated by a lot of lower key runs not registering on the leaderboards. Luckily, understanding how raider.io works lets us use this to our advantage!

Raider.io works by getting runs from Blizzard’s mythic+ API (presumably at some fixed frequency). The main limitation here is that the API holds only the top 500 runs for that week and that server. If you are on the more ā€œhardcoreā€ servers, this means that the leaderboard is soon filled with +10 in time runs, and even your decent +8 in time isn’t going to register. Luckily you can manipulate this system to start building a score.

https://raider.io/mythic-plus/realms/us/current

The above links take you to a page which displays the worst run on a given realms leaderboard. If you sort it by ā€œAvg. Lowestā€ and scroll to the bottom you’ll find Illidan for US and Kazzak for EU. Almost all the worst runs are a +10! Luckily, on top of the page, there are a bunch of servers with ā€œx slots openā€ on the leaderboard. To get your run registered you only need to find a server where a in time version of your key would register, even if its a mere +2 key, and make sure one of the players in the group is from that server.

There’s three ways to go about this. The first is to join groups where the group leader is from one of these servers, the other is to create a group and make sure one of the people you invite is. The last is to get up early on reset day and crank out dungeons before the leaderboard fills.

So, now you know how to get your runs to register, but what is a good score anyway? In time runs give roughly 10*key_level. Since only the best run per dungeon counts, you can get 500 points simply by completing the 10 different dungeons in time with a +5 key. Thing is… most people don’t have a 500 score. Not even most people applying to +7 through +9 keys. Part of this is that peoples runs aren’t registering, which is to our advantage. That 500 is going to make you so much more attractive to a group, and is so very obtainable.
