I fully agree with you. However i think one reason is Player Retention … they think, with some crappy farmy thing like Azerite they can bind players and encourage them to play more.
Truth be told … this actually feels very carrot-on-a-stick to me and helps more to keep players away and not invested.
I agree more here. The thing that made WoW fun was not some gimmick expansion mechanic but the feeling that Classes evolve.
Just look at the Death Knight. Now they have skills, that we all know from the Raid Encounter with the Lich King. That is cool and engaging.
A Artifact Weapon that is drained of life … isn’t.
While some stuff is fun, i did enjoy the Garden in MoP allot … while i didn’t care for the Garrison in WoD as example.
They should have made one huge Garrison with every Building in it, make it the Faction hub and then give players Peons/Squires and then let Players activate a limited amount of Buildings for him/her to gain bonuses off that Building.
But … not give Players a Herb Garden and a Mine …
But again, i fully and whole heartedly agree with you. For me they got off of the track with the SoO patch, that was 4.2 in MoP. I found the Story started to drift into the realm of unbelievable and gimmicky. Oh s many coincidences … and weird happenings.
