Boring would be if they turn Goblins stoic engineers too. A trope we already have twice in gnomes and mecha gnomes.

Nor are they turning into that just because Gazlowe had the point of “maybe if we stop acting like Saturday morning cartoon villains, we could make more deals with people and make even more money”.

gallywix is a example of what a goblin should be, wow during cata-mop period was just so fun, lore flaws aside, the goblin starting zone is so damn funny and awesome, he is also the classic greedy greemlin, simple and fits well, not every player wants every characters shout about their morals or anything obvious to appear morally good ''if you dont pay your goblin workers you’re wrong

aah, the good old days when wow still had warcraft vibe…you can say the lore was still inconsistent and bad, but the game was fun and we had characters with unique personalities, moments that would resonate differently with each person, when the devs would think of “lol what if we made the goblin leader bait the player in the quest chain, that would be funny asf” instead of "that would be controversial, our policy doesnt support that ‘’
