I play videogames and I still have absolutely no idea what the bloody devil a battle pass is.
Basically paying in advance for DLC you haven’t even seen yet.
Screw your prestige. Make those weapons available for those who didn’t feel like getting them back then.
Speaking of better things to do
It just sounds like a bunch of noise to me. I remember burning crusade classic had the thing with the dark portal pass. I just thought it was dumb, even though I didn’t understand what you were getting.
I just pictured Blizzard sending you a mail package with a tiny dark portal inside with a note in it that said “this is a Ponzi scheme”
Games have been getting more expensive to make and they’re cheaper and cheaper at retail than they ever were.
Companies need to make money somehow.
I was being a bit facetious but you’re right.
Where do you live? Games are getting more expensive not cheaper.
Boxed games and steam have to sell their games cheap if they want to remain competitive. Because apparently anything over $60 exceeds market expectations and is overlooked unless you are absolutely certain that it will blow your socks off, which isn’t as common as sometimes games flop.
So the industry trend is to focus on live service which does add an objectively larger amount of content into a game, more than a $60 box would. But that also means the game is more expensive to make.
Sure, when you do add the potential for monitization, no matter what that looks like (expansion packs, cash shop items, or loot boxes) in aggregate they are getting more expensive. But it’s not quite so simple. Inflation is also inflating, probably exponentially, which would indicate why a 3 bedroom house is over a million dollars and one guy managed to buy Tiwtter by himself.
But I don’t want to go there.
This is exactly why Blizzard should bring them back, they shouldn’t cater to awful people like this.
Yet some people still can’t get over not having it. Evidently it has more value than it’s being given credit for.
this is actually a good reason to bring them back… a person who played in a different region, then moves to another region is unable to transfer those rewards when they make a new account.
so, these people didn’t even “miss out”, they are just kinda out of luck.
For me it’s more of a quality issue. The mage tower appearances are high quality, something you can’t really find anywhere else. It is very rare if not unheard of for any other moggable weapons to have the same quality as some of the mage tower artifact weapons. Most of us wouldn’t care if it was like mounts: there are plenty, some are rarer than others but there are plenty of high quality rare mounts and not so rare mounts.
I have almost all the items from the mage tower… but I don’t care if they bring them back to new players.
Perhaps this could even-out over time, as those artists slowly implement higher fidelity weapon models
some easy to get, others more challenging
Right, you can say the same about the MoP armor mog and the WoD weapon mog. That’s because they’re prestige rewards. They were granted to people who chose to engage in a specific form of challenging content. They were a carrot on the end of a stick for players who chose to run on a specific treadmill. People who didn’t run on that treadmill don’t get to eat that carrot. This whole issue has devolved into a weird issue of fairness that doesn’t apply.
I agree, but the problem is the mage tower is still relevant content, which using your analogy people are running the treadmill for the carrot but not getting the carrot therefore the rewards they originally gave need to apply. You don’t want them available then you need to agree to remove mage tower. With that gone I’m okay with the appearances being exlusive.
No they’re not. They’re actually darn cheap nowadays.
I used to pay 69.99$ for NES cartridges in 1988.
That would be 150$ today.
A big box game today is about the same price it was back in 1988. Gaming has been somewhat immune to inflation outside of hardware.
But the budgets for the games are massively inflated compared to those 1988 NES titles.
I don’t get why the people wanting them back just can’t be honest. “They have no value!” as they write 1000 word essays about why they should be brought back.
It’s not the same tower. It’s been rebalanced and normalized, and our classes function and perform fundamentally differently than they did in Legion. They provide different rewards largely for that reason.
The loudest cry for the tower to be rereleased came from a substantial demographic on the forums who “just wanted the challenge, not to bring back the old appearances,” because “it’s wrong to remove content. And bring back the MoP legendary questline while you’re at it.” That’s what we were given, and the goal posts shifted because people assumed that in being given that inch, they could demand a mile.
But as I said, they still have a carrot on a stick. It’s prestige clothing which reflects the time walking incarnation of the tower we now have.
See my first and second statement in this reply.
Different people have different motivations. you can’t just lump everyone together and declare them like minded.
Value is relative. I think they’re quite valuable to a lot of people. i just happen to think that a lot of newer players would benefit off of that value.
