Lol man it had as many subs as cata and almost as many as wrath. There wasn’t a big drop until the end. So the last expansion to hold a healthy sub numbers. Even when during the drought it was pretty healthy. More subs than bfa leeching of legions success did so yeah pretty successful by comparison.
WOD was a disaster for obvious reasons. Catch up that existed in a lot of previous expansions was clearly not the main issue
Eh somewhat. Still it’s not like bfa/legion sales were that bad. It’s just funny how fast blizzard resorted to trying to get people to sub long term with mounts in bfa
I’m sure I’m looking at the same graph and mop was actually pretty constant, slight decline in the middle. Even wod had a more constant sub numbers. Legion/bfa had the biggest spikes and crashes. Bfa especially.
Lol dude it’s a guessing game for sure. Still though, people hypothesize and I guarantee you blizzard does too. The drastic changes of Legion and bfa on that graph are pretty telling that the game design is going in the wrong direction.
Looking at previous final patches you can normally have an alt caught up fairly quickly. Sadly with BFA there is just too many throw away systems to grind for a returning player or alt to stand a chance at right now.
Even in legion by this point you could hit the softcap of your weapon in no time and getting two legendary pieces of armor didn’t take long either.
WOD as bad of an expansion as it was outside of the legendary ring quest you could be competitive fairly quickly in the final patch.
MOP would be same as WOD
Point being I agree with OP they need a better cloak catchup system. Also not everyone raids. PVPers and M+ runners only get one chance a week for a core.
Anyone who thinks the current system is fine is either actually dumb or literally has nothing to do with their life than grinding some of the worst “content” that Blizz has given us.
They need to implement catchups and they will, once the subs hit a low enough level again. They just don’t learn.
As someone who was out for around 2 months due to contracting corona and almost dying and then my wife getting it and being equally as sick, I think the catch up system needs work.
Corruption resistance is a major patch feature. It shouldn’t take 13 weeks to catch up. Or get an alt up to speed.
Just missing two months put me back quite a bit. I’ve caught up and I’m 18 resist behind but even that 18 is big. I could safely add another Expedient 3 if I had it without hitting too much corruption.
Just let full clears of Visions drop them. Until caught up. If you’re way behind, you’d still need a decent chunk of time to catch up to get all of the vessels.
Or let invasion chests drop them. That’s an extra couple cores per week.
they are already making beg posts such as the cloak/corruptions (where they finally released the full list of corruptions after the playerbase speculated on a rotation they only created for holding subs purposes) they “buffed” paragon cache rank 4 essence drops asking for people to go back and do their content.
It’s not working, if these kind of posts show up randomly asking players to do past content obviously they are begging for our atention… unless it’s for AR’s these old places almost serve no purpose (except for pathfinder which you dont need paragon boxes for) maybe for a mount collector.
Oh man, I am sorry you and your loved one had to go through this, and it is great to hear that you both have recovered! Players like you shouldn’t be punished for real life emergencies like that by a poorly designed catch up feature in a game.
Appreciate it. Yeah it was no joke. And I was an idiot joking before getting it and I’m only 35.
But on topic yeah the catch up system definitely needs a couple extra sources of cores. I think 4 a week should be fair. Nzoth, 2 invasions, full clear.
They should really make it so that if you are not capped, every full clear vision gives you one Malefic Core so that you could really scrunch that time. I’m not quite sure that it should be account wide because you should have to invest some time on an alt, but I took a break from the game and came back about a month ago, I am only at 69 (nice) corruption resistance by now.
Throwing an extra expedient 3 is 3k dps pure patchwork, and of course if I had better corruption on some of my pieces it would scale higher. The more expedient the higher dps boost each piece would be.
No, it’s not the end of the world. But I have fun being strong, and if that means hardly playing a toon until it catches up to my dk bis’d corruption out I’ll do that. Especially when it comes to m+.
Yeah maybe not then… I was looking at a graph that used Google trend data. Just an estimate but it follows the officially released data pretty closely.
Not bad really. Compared to wod and especially compared to bfa.
The whole bfa corruption system is a convoluted mess … cloak and all … it’s dumb
My wife said she might start playing with me … after trying about an hour to explain the system to her she said it’s to complicated and doesn’t sound fun … she is an attorney in RL … and loves games … so if she thinks it’s overly complicated imagine the majority of new pLAyers to game …
Tldr… the current system runs off more players from game or from ever starting it than it retains … but Blizzard gonna Blizzard I guess lol
Did you feel SAme when water strider lost unique ability to Walkman water after hundreds of hours of grinding for it ? Or cheer it like all those that never grinder for it did?
Water strider should have remained only water walking mount … with ability to use whatever mount tool you had slotted … the grind for the water strider should have remained same for all if they wanted it They should have to grind to get it
