While I like your idea OP I don’t really care how anyone else plays the game past what’s already setup. It doesn’t invalidate my experience and I’d be fine with whatever. Just knowing people can’t make changes to their “hardcore” addon when they die is enough for me
I think more people would like enjoy the AH vs not having it though. Am I one of those people? I’m not sure. I think your idea is a happy medium but won’t ever happen… mainly because if you don’t want to use the AH you can just not use it
I will say not using the AH made the game a lot more fun in different ways, but made things like enchanting and making the deadly blunderbus thing for ashenvale kinda dumb. It also made farming for mounts extremely tedious and I’m not much of a farmer. I enjoy making money on the AH and I’d wager that 90% of epic mounts on the fake hardcore app just bought gold so

I wouldn’t worry tho, Blizzard has nerfed the challenge hard enough you can legit get carried to 60.
