It is by far the worst tier set I have ever had to play with. It’s not fun, cumbersome, and counterintuitive.
I was excited at first when I slammed the pieces in the catalyst device, but after running a few dungeons with my newly minted 4 set, I found myself not wanting to play at all. It’s wonderful that the damage is being buffed but that does nothing for the design. I constantly have to stare at my action bars, and instead of combat flowing normally I have to inject ST or AOE spenders into the opposite type of pull, it feels awful.
Remove the “other spenders” portion and just let it be spenders, yes it won’t be the most complicated tier bonus ever, but it will be significantly more fun than it is now.
I can still ask, it’s not like it would require massive changes, it should have been fixed on PTR when I posted multiple times about it. Not sure how this topic isn’t gaining support, I don’t see any other spec forced to weave AOE and ST talents, but I only took a quick glance.
You don’t have to hyperfocus on procs though. If you’re doing aoe damage and you see your TV light up, press it. And inversely if you are doing single target rotation and you see your DS button light up, press it. You could even put a little two button bar with TV and DS somewhere in your peripheral and when you see it light up there you go.
Alternatively they could not design a tier set that literally goes against the design goals stated in the same post. It should have never made it through PTR but they obviously care little about feedback.
I thought it was bugged, because the way the tier set bonus reads it should proc off of any holy power spender. Instead it’s making you do divine storm to make it proc? I think there is some broken code that’s game breaking to fix. Or some DEV’s not giving a crock about fixing it. This happens way to often at blizzard. It straight up feels like they got some Mod Jed Dev working at blizzard.
I’d ignore the trolls flaming your post by the way. I’d agree the interaction feels completely wonky. Tier sets should work as they’re read on their set bonuses. I’ve heard about some players who troll classes because they “know” game devs. I didn’t want to believe it at first except it makes sense. Especially after a GM caught using Touch of Death to boost their favorite streamer. Who knows what other influences random streamers or players might have over Devs.
Consuming Divine Purpose grants Divine Arbiter, empowering your other Holy Power spenders to unleash an arbiter of light at their primary target, dealing (1012.5% of Attack Power) Holy damage and (472.5% of Attack Power) Holy damage to enemies within 8 yds. Cannot occur while Divine Arbiter is active.
It works exactly like it says it does.
Your inability to read it is entirely on you.
Renae feeling on how it work are legitimate even if subjective.
And she doesn’t even argue the wording suggest otherwise.
I can see why people feel its wonky and it does seem inconsistent with the goals that were communicated in the blue post about the sets.
But suggesting it doesn’t do what the tier says it does is false.
This sounds insane.
Reading the tooltip is a freaking low bar to clear.
Pointing out you can’t clear it is not “taking a victory lap”.
You came in inserting something into the thread the OP didn’t even argue, saying the tooltip said it worked differently than how it actually did.
You’re wrong, there’s no nuance to it, no way to interpret it any other way than to make the assessment you didn’t read either the tooltip or beyond the first line of Renae’s post.
Again, you’re not reading…
3 threads now I saw you comment on and saying stuff that are wrong on their faces, only to then proceed to playing dumb or doubling down on the stupidity.
Hey Ben could you tell me about how much damage the 4-set is doing? I’m wondering if it’s worth it to use in PvP (the damage is halved), but I don’t think I’ll get a chance to test til next week
I got it this week and I’m barely playing atm (life).
From my limited experience, it’s alot of damage in PVE.
I got a similar experience to other people with it being top 3 of my damage in dungeons.
In PVP with it’s damage halved, it’s still 500% AP you’re adding in ST on top of DS, so I would assume you’d want to use it but I’m not a PVPer.
The grips people in PVP often have with the Tier is that they will force some stats you absolutely do not care about but the catalyst, this time around, preserves the stats of the item you’re using.
So you can still optimize your Vers. I don’t see why then you wouldn’t throw the effect on top.
Oh for sure, I haven’t really looked at it but I was under the impression it required you to use divine storm, which is sometimes hard to use in pvp due to the lack of uptime in melee range. And if it added half of a final verdict (in damage) onto that divine storm’s damage, at the cost of a normal final verdict, then it wouldn’t be worth pressing, get me?
So that would then be a bit counter intuitive but you would use DS on the DP proc (with no one around) to then have the Divine Arbiter on FV to make sure it hits.
I ASSUME it’s worth it because you get the damage% buff + DA.
But in PVP I can imagine that tier being very unintuitive to use consistently.
