No class balancing, per the devs.
âFixing a specâ has nothing to do with buffing a spec. Feral in Vanilla had issues because of wonky powershifting and higher level gearing issues. Moonkin had gearing issues and BIG TIME mana issues. The only fixes they need are some fixes to gearing problems in later tiers, and a couple broken mechanisms that made them unplayable in end game content. NO one (that I know of) wants them to do as much damage as the âpuresâ in Classic.
I put pures in quotes because often they are clumped together with Warriors and Priests, neither of which are pure by any measure. On the other hand Hunters are pure, yet because there was zero pet scaling with gear and again, some very bad gearing issues due to broken mechanics they are worse DPS than many âhybridsâ after the first couple tiers. 2.0 fixed a ton of these issues. The only reason all these fixes werenât âVanillaâ was because it was an iterative process throughout all of Vanilla and was fixed as soon as they figured out how.
Regardless, the classes need fixing where they are broken, and gearing needs fixing where it is broken.
I shouldnât say âneed,â because they game will play fine without it and I am really looking forward to it. But it will only play fine because there are 5 classes and one spec for 3 others (all healing) that donât need fixing and donât have end game gearing and scaling issues. Five classes is enough, but it certainly isnât best.
Imo the real problem isnât with the hybrid the classes themselves, but with the way they were itemized at end game. Their sets are designed like a pure class instead of being designed for the hybrid nature of the class which severely hampers their performance.
However, they have already given their answer to both the balancing aspect and the itemization aspect so it is what it is.
It would come at a cost of completely gutting their utility, remember Blizzard detailed âhybridâ tax many times over.
Sorry but as someone who mained a druid from launch, I disagree here.
As much as I loved the feral improvements that came with TBC, and agree that they were needed then, there was something lost about the class when that happened (it also came with adjustments to the other trees and things like DR on entangling roots).
Not every class is or should be intended as a DPS class. Shamans and paladins both had terrible DPS in vanilla (burst and DPS are not the same thing, mind you). Giving moonkin similar DPS to a mage while itâs essentially wearing plate armor and can heal? Never going to happen. Giving feral the same dps as a rogue or fury warrior while it can still heal/shapeshift? Never going to happen.
Versatility was always the strength of these classes, druid especially. Itâs true that versatility is underutilized in endgame raiding, but thatâs the fault of the player base more than the class.
Thatâs not the issue, the early sets were designed as actual hybrid sets. The core issue is that there is no hyrbid role. There is only tank/dps/healing.
Even if you only buffed Druid DPS by like 5-10%, you would make them gods in PvP.
Imagine having a Civil War reenactment and instead of repeating it like it is supposed to happen. You decide to have the South win! Sounds dumb right?
Classic is a Vanilla reenactment. Nothing is supposed to be buffed, nothing is supposed to be changed! If you died in Vanilla easily you should die in Classic easily. If that isnât something you enjoy, then that part of history isnât for you.
Donât try to rewrite history. You either enjoy that period or you didnât.
It is really that simple.
PS- Druids are fine
PPS- Looking forward to Prot Warriors not being the meme tank and actual Gods again.
THIS again! Wow!
Ok fine, donât do your research just make ignorant statements. I have played a druid for years and I can tell you now that the specs are perfectly viable.
And here is the thing, the real problem with Druids is people like you. People that roll up, having not played since Vanilla and think you know it all and you bring your ignorance to the table like itâs a gift.
I am going to main a mage, but I am going to play a Druid as my alt, and I am going to tank all 5-man and 15 man content on that Druid. Every so often I am going to run into a drooling knuckle-dragger such as yourself that is going to insist - based on your limited 15 year old experience - that âdruids canât tankâ.
And what will end up happening is that your group, who will know better, will drop you, replace you with someone much smarter, and then we will go smash that dungeon and laugh about what a noob you are.
Everybody wins! Well, except you, but maybe you will figure it outâŠeventually.
Ferahgo was also an amazing vanilla druid pvpâer, and has a ton of videos out there still (innervated, rootdown, etc.)
So? PvP was already rock paper scissors and really didnât matter anyways.
You are joking right? The early sets are healing sets. Pure healing sets. Hybrids had to look for the good non set items and hope to get to snag them. And competed with everyone in the raid for those. So yeah. Btw. Talking about raid sets. Not dungeon.
You mean the sets that had +stats for every stat? And look at the cenarion set the eight piece has a bonus for hurricaneâŠ
And yes that non healing hyrbids had no real sets really sucked for them.
Yes it has cooldown reduced for hurricane. Yay! But only like a small amount of plus spellpower and a higher amount of + healing power. Then looks pure set. +spellpower on every piece. If the hybrid sets received the same treatment at least they wouldnât have been as far behind the curve. Hybridâs should not do as much as pure but when your gear also fights your hybrid nature it is a double whammy. The power in a hybrid is being flexible.
If you go the extra mile Balance will be top 15 dps or better in your raid right now.
Higher on some fights.
All balance needs is mana.
Except layering, adding a flight drop off button, not to mention other changes???
Layering is a back-end thing.
I had no idea there was a flight drop-off button. Is that really something to get yourself in a tizzy over though?
Back end or not, its different. If there are QoL changes, might as well add more. Lets add aoe looting, mining the entire node at once, faster flight paths, allowing flying to a point even if you donât have connecting pathsâŠ
No.
The line gets drawn here.
I think they should add all the classes from retail with the same systems as retail. Classic should be retail with less content.
