When I finally killed that fat imp mother… I still remember the rush. Think I was close to 200 tries. Please note, most of those tries lasted me about 20 seconds - I was dying fast right away.
The bear was easier - but somebody linked Asmongold doing it and he bashes his head on the keyboard - I had to laugh - brought back PAINFUL memories of that challenge. Think that one only took me 30 tries.
I’d like to see more keyboard head mashing solo challenges because when you do beat it, what a feeling.
I agree, that rigging is super exclusive - the only way to get that particular form is the MT - and that’s a travesty. Keep the original colours unique but offer some juicy new ones.
T&E said I think the shadow-priest one could be cheesed? I heard all of them had a varying degree of difficulty.
Also why would they put in a solo activity that required group activity gear to be completed? Reminds me of when folks complained they needed PVE gear to be competitive in PVP. Seems like a design flaw.
I did the bear and cat in Broken Isles gear, my legendary (not the right one for the job) and a BoE or two from AH. I did not have epic gear and I didn’t cheese anything.
Why do all these “please Blizzard” posts about the Mage Tower make me think about someone going outside and asking it to rain while others ask for it not to rain. I think Blizzard is going to do what they are intending to do.
Nobody is sure what the rewards will be if there is an updated Mage Tower. The Tier skins could very well likely be for the Legion Mythic+ and the original skins up for The Mage Tower. That is if the data mining is only checking for new different content. The old skins aren’t new. The recolored Tier are new. A lot of assuming is going on. Best to wait till it’s officially announced.
So, then see, someone who did solo content could do it. That should be the degree of difficulty.
He made it sound like the other poster couldn’t do it just because they don’t do heroic raiding. It may be easier with better gear, but it shouldn’t be impossible with WQ gear.
Well the Tower has had some nerfing, if we are to believe what has been datamined. And the new T20 colors doesn’t currently seem to have a path to acquire - so the speculation is that it would be MT. It seems to fit and make sense (at this point).
But true, we don’t know what’s going to happen until Blizzard makes an announcement.

From what Wowhead has reported, the MT looks to be nerfed (not insignificantly) so I think they are going to make it more obtainable for most people. I’ll enjoy killing that fat Imp Mom again.
Edit: and I never did do it on a ranged class, so if it is the T20 recolors I’m already salivating on that warlock one, and it will be fun to try one of them I hadn’t before.
Opening the mage tower back up is fine and the tuning doesn’t matter since it’s going to be all new rewards as they can’t legally bring back the old mage tower appearances or the models they used for them just like they can’t legally bring back the horde war motorcycle mount as California has specific laws for limited time advertising etc…
