Blizzard messed up yet again. End of story. You would think after 19 years they would get some of the basics down.

WoW players fundamentally misunderstanding the issue once again and decide to be passive aggressive about it once again.
Blizzard added a portal in Val to the Emerald Dream, it SHOULD go both ways. Speaking for myself, I have no issues flying to the actual zone entrance either way abut it’s a baffling decision to implement a convenience portal to the zone but only do it halfway. All these people going “Oh just hearth its a short CD” (15 mins lol) or listing off different teles you can use just miss the point entirely and only do so out of some weird need to feel like they’re so smart and everyone else is dumb.

It’s pretty straightforward to add a portal back. Hearthing out of a dungeon and going to the Emerald Dream is a common scenario whether your hearth CD is 10 or 20 minutes.

i would have to say there have been at least 3 instances where my hearthstone was on cooldown and i was in la la land and accidentally took the emerald dream portal when in a m+ group instead of taking the portal to the timeways and then be stuck over there until i get a summon or do the dalaran > stormwind > valdrakken route.
i never understood why there was no portal back to valdrakken from emerald dream. but meh.

It’d be nice, but Hearth to val is usually enough.
We got Dalaran stone to SW, Garrison stone → Ashran → SW, SW Cloak, Old Dalaran Ring → SW, Garrsion Shipyard → Ashran → SW.
I mean, there are a lot of ways to quickly get back to Valdrakken.
What I’d really like is a portal to ZC.

There’s already too many portals in the game.
In SL it made sense to have your hearth set in your covenant sanctum. In DF, Valdrakken is the most convenient place.
if you buy the new War Within xpac , you get a second hearthstone toy, which I have, but I don’t know if it shares a CD with your original hearthstone, because I havent tried it yet?
It’s the effect that has a cooldown. All the Hearthstone variants are essentially just tmog for the effect, not separate uses.
All hearthstones share same CD…all those extra ones are just prettied up looking ones and take you other places like Dalaren and that…
Well, in this case, it might depend on which dungeon you are going to:
BRH/DHT: Legion Dalaran is not that far away from either
EB: garrison might be a bit of a trek, depending on faction (Horde is in Frostfire, right next door to Gorgrond, Alliance is in SMV) but it is still in the same continent
Dal and Garrison, last I checked, had their own CDs, as I could use one of those while my “main” hearthstone was on CD.
I still pay mages who port me, mainly because its ingrained gratitude from back when it cost them a reagent. And I think its just polite.
The Dalaran and Garrison hearthstones have separate cooldowns because they go to a single, predetermined and unalterable location. All the other hearthstones you can get - including the Covenant ones, counterintuitively - will share the location and cooldown of your regular one. All the provide is a different effect.
My mage likes to leave portals to Val ungrouped , to see how may frustrated people try to click on the thing.

For some reason Hearthstones to your garrison and Dalaran were reclassified as toys that can no longer be stored in inventory. (There should be an option to store a hearthstone where you want – in inventory OR action bar.)

Why make hearthstones toys? Alts can’t use hearthstones they haven’t earned – can’t travel to my garrison or even Dalaran.

Put homebound enchant on ur cloak, if you hearth to valdrak then immediately take port to ED, by the time you plant 5 seeds or do whatever meaningless thing you still need to do there your hearth is off CD.

I agree that we need a direct route out of ED without having to burn a hearthstone. It would be different if we could have more than one HS that we can set the destination for. Most of the other answers are “well, you can do it this way or that way” are “unresponsive” as they don’t address the issue. I have my HS pointed at a completely different expansion (farming) and don’t want to lose that because Blizzard’s opinion of convenience varies from those who pay to play.
