Well of course it seemed alien, it took place in an entirel new realm, the realm of death. Blizzard said they were going to expand beyond the realm of life into other realms, death, light, void, chaos, ect.
As for the criticism of BfA, yes a group of people didn’t like it. They were a minority of people in the forums who were in turn a minority of the players but their “echo chamber” convinced them that they were speaking for all “the players”. They were not.
