I thought legion was perfect, even though I pushed in a couple seasons, I also did a lot of world content and I thought it was superb. I wish every xpac had a class hall and mount again. I do not mind the grind, personally.
Torghast would have been perfect for someone like me if it awarded gear, better mogs and mounts. It had so much potential. But, they added a timer and require an il as you go up, which defeats the purpose of what I am after as a mostly solo player.
I mean yeah but if they are looking at where to put their resources which may or may not be limited and they calculate that it isn’t worth putting them into intense open world content then that would make sense. Just offering a possible idea as to why it may feel like your issues are falling on deaf ears. Who knows, nobody here for sure
And that is part of the problem, look how well the 3 pillars idea has been working out. Times change, games need to adapt to the changing market, if they don’t, they fail.
When they were in the process of introducing Horrific Visions during BfA, I think they were under the impression that, since this was the only new content in the patch (aside from the raid, of course), that it would keep everybody busy leveling up cloaks on all their alts for the rest of the expansion. And casuals would have no option but to git gud!
All indications are that they didn’t meet their participation goals. People who were planning on getting it on all there alts and leveling them all up got a few and only leveled the one on their main. A lot of people were like, "I came back for this? And left again. And a lot of people switched to old content, since BfA casual drops were dramatically nerfed by having so much of it useless due to the inability to cleanse that gear.
So they figured, we’ll try harder in Shadowlands. We won’t let Torghast be optional. They will have to do it in order to access any end content. But I guess someone explained to them that blocking the majority of players from reaching all content was probably not a good idea. So they nerfed it, not because of complaints, but because of participation statistics.
I’m not holding my breath at this point, sorry if I sound jaded, but after all the talk about wanting to change, then seeing more of the same old Blizz being Blizz and making Blizz levels of questionable decisions during the last several days, really makes me feel like they won’t really change.
What are you talking about times change? Solo players that just do world content have not and will not ever be the majority of players in WoW. Theres not some massive playerbase just not doing content lol. Maybe you need to accept the game isn’t for you if you’re just a solo player.
There is not a single MMO RPG on the market that is catering to Solo players and world content. The best argument you can make is BDO and New world, but they’re both dead, and both have most of their end game progression in groups.
I did a post of so many easy ideas to improve the game and S4 had really easy ways to provide content, like sandworm relics upgrades for the world content gear, increase WQs ilvl during fated content… Etc, there’s obvious ways to do something good but Devs forgot about a portion of the player base
Wildstar didn’t fail from what their content was. It Failed because it was a bad game. Comparing that to WoW is being dishonest with yourself. The WoW playerbase does not want solo content. They want raids and more fun dungeons to do and PVP maps. The only meaningful solocontent anybody cares about is player housing.
The only reason I’m playing, is because there’s a drought in games I want to play this year. The next game I think I want to play might be next year in Resident Evil 2 remake.
Thats why WoW is 18 years old now and still going. And it would continue to move on just using the same formula… dungeons, raid and PvP. WoW wont change becoz arguably they are still the best MMO out there right now after being the best for 18 years.
Take note WoW wont copy subpar MMO’s. They are being benchmarked by all MMOs out there.
Not an argument I made. I said name one where solo players are the majority. Where thats the main content of the MMO RPG.
GW2? Nope group content. Its WvW, Arenas, Fractals (M+) and doing Map clearing which takes 40+ players working together to finish the map in its current xpack.
SWTOR? Nope. Still group content. Dungeons, Hardmode Dungeons, Raids, Battlegrounds, and Ranked battlegrounds.
FF14? Nope. Still group content. Dungeons, Raids, Battlegrounds.
So you’re going to have to start pulling really specific small MMO RPG’s. Hell you can’t even pull EvE online. Its still group stuff to get anything of note done.
You can do that and still do main progression? Its not do one or the other.
You’re not in our group content anyway? If all the solo players quit it doesn’t affect any of the rest of the playerbase. You already don’t do the content you’re already not noticed.
