Playing on an Xbox Controller

I’ve been playing retribution and protection on an xbox controller and found it works really well to the point I am able to perform to almost the same level as on a keyboard, and wanted to share my binds and see if there are any other controller enjoyers. For context, I play via moonlight while walking on the treadmill in my home gym most of the time. I also use CSAA so one less button.

RT/LT = Right/Left Trigger
RB/LB = Right/Left Bumper

Triggers

LT = Ctrl/Tab Target when tapped
LB = Shift/Tab Ally when tapped
RT = Judgement
RB = Blade of Justice
LT+RT = TV
LT+RB = DS

Buttons

X = wake of Ashes
Y = Rebuke
B = Avenging Wrath
A = Jump
LT+X = WoG
LT+Y = Focus Reuke
LT+B = Divine Toll
LT+A = HoJ
RB+A = Searing Glare

D-Pad (Back Buttons)

Highly recommend getting the xbox elite or a knock off for this
Down = Dispel/Taunt help/harm macro
Up = Shield of Vengeance
Left = Blessing of Sac (set ally)
Right = Blessing of Prot/Spell (set ally)
LT+Down = Flash Heal
LT + Up = Trinket Slot 1 (PvP Medallion)
LT+Left = Focus Blessing of Sac
LT+Right = Focus Blessing of Sac/Spell
RB+LT+Down = Write target’s name into blessing macros

Thumb Stick Buttons

LS = Blessing of Freedom
LT+LS = Lay on Hands
RS = Divine Steed
LT+RS = Bubble

The Rest

A lot of my utility and flavor is on LB such as hearthstone, Rez etc.
Quick menus are on LB+LT+dpad using console port

I play with an Xbox controller as well. Which app do you use for it? I use Xpadder personally can share my layout if you’re interested?

What content do you do with a controller? If you wanted to LoH a group member or someting, could you do it quickly?

I’m just using ConsolePort with a controller that has four buttons on the back mapped to D-pad. I play over moonlight on an Apple TV so it’s appearing to wow as a standard gamepad.

I played lemix exclusively on a controller, tank and dps m+, and dps in PvP. I don’t heal. For team defensives I have two options. One is I have party1-4 mapped to the dpad. So I can press left bumper down for party 1, left bumper up for party 2 etc. Then press loh button. I can also set a focus and if my focus exists and is friendly my LT+left or right will cast sac or bop on my focus target.

It’s even better with the ps5 edge controller. The extra buttons is massive and the touch pad doubles as a mouse.

Also recently got the Xbox elite 2 controller to play wow using consoleport addon. I don’t think I’d be able to do pvp as ret because not sure how I’d be able to sac or bop someone quickly. I suppose I could keep everything to myself but that gimps everyone.

Still struggling to get the cursor to work the best. I have found the controller is working pretty well for my DH and hunter, probably would work well for a warrior also

Not a problem with a ps5 edge controller and mouse over macros :stuck_out_tongue:

Controller has nothing to do with it so you can hop off your high horse. It’s that the cursor flickers or the UI seems to not work the best with controller controls switching between cursor and no cursor often. Thanks for no input though. Ignored

Sorry but facts is facts, horse or no. The touch pad doubles as a movable mouse curser, and that is all you need for a mouse over macro.

I play with a dualsense edge and actually find healing to be the easiest role, at least in M+. No need to worry about tabbing to a specific mob for interrupts, and my back buttons are up/down so it is incredibly quick to target any party member I want (I use the raid cursor in consoleport for healing). When I’m playing a dps spec with lots of party utility like ret I just keep it in raid cursor mode so that I can super quickly bop/sac/wog/whatever. I healed a ton in FFXIV so I’m very used to the whole up/down on controller to target party members playstyle.

Raid healing is a different beast though, and I’m not sure I could be quick enough to do that.

edit: Just wanted to add that I launch bnet through steam so I can use steam input. It lets me bind things I normally can’t, like using the mic mute/unmute button for anything, using the two buttons below the thumb sticks usually used for switching profiles for whatever I want. It’s real nice.
