Playing Classic EQ has me worried about Classic WoW

You can have any game but know what you’re playing and buying.

Single player (yourself)

Multiple player (2 to 60 ppl)

Single online player(yourself)

Multi online player (play with 2 to 60 ppl)

Massive multi player online (1k or more)

If you like being a hero of your own story it’s best to stay with single player or multi if you want your friends to stop by.

BFA is mmo mixed with single player you might like it.

Do I not get credit for at least trying to participate in the multiplayer aspect?

Despite my awkwardness and social ineptitude I am still looking forward to Classic and am hoping for a good experience this time around.

you really can’t compare classic to pserver EQ, IMO. Multi boxing is rampant, so there are far fewer true box players than you might imagine.

I have been playing retail EQ on a TLP server, and quite enjoyed it for a while, but I found out the one I chose (selos) is losing population. I guess because it’s a fast XP progression server. But according to their forums, the mangler TLP server is pretty hopping. I just didn’t want to reroll.

Because classic WoW has such a big fan base to pull from (retail), and is generating a ton of prelaunch hype, it’ll probably fare much better population-wise if the community grows as expected.

You realize you can’t really compare the 2 right? Also what happened on your server in vanilla may not happen this time.

No. Participation awards are only given so that parents feel good about spending money on their kid’s youth sports league, even though their kid’s team was at the bottom of the bracket.

As with life, communities in classic do not owe you anything, and they are not necessarily fair. Make the effort to join the community. Banter with people in the chat channels. Toss a buff when you see someone in the field, and group up for quests. Join a guild that looks like it will suit your needs. Put in the work, and hope you get rewards. But don’t expect anything to be handed to you like in Retail.

You are talking about P99…which has been out for sometime. Most people are doing the end-game stuff or hanging out with others. most already have every class leveled and geared so aren’t running anymore lowbie characters.

Also, even though they say they don’t allow it, EQ is the epitome of Boxing. So most don’t even need groups to do anything.

Classic will be a very much better experience.

You’d get a more accurate classic game experience if you played Warhammer online not everquest classic

on P99 everyones already leveled. On the beta with only 200 people playing at any 1 time on either faction I still got whispers to do dungeons consistently during each of my play sessions. this thread can be locked now.

Don’t worry. Vanilla WoW was the juggernaut it was because it had everything it needed for healthy communities to form and yet it was still very solo friendly. It was the “Casual’s” MMO.

To be fair, depending on your class, some areas were more difficult then others. I joined a couple of months before Naxx came out and the hinterlands as a stabby little rogue in most parts was not an easy place to solo. Sure, the owlkin and wolves weren’t too horrible [given I had enough poisons I made on person even then cooldowns on health pots were really long o.o;; ] but the troll mobs in themselves were elites so definitely had to ask guildies from time to time for help. A good chunk were normally in UBRS but fortunately had a few old friends [new friends/recruits at the time] who were super chill and willing to help me with most of the quests there. I understand the struggle OP though I do assure you you won’t have too much trouble in Classic as I will admit,it was definitely more casual friendly than the OG EQ. At the same time it perplexes me there’s a comment in this thread that seems to be chastising you for wanting to group with people and asking for help and rather than commend you decided to tell you to play single players instead. Comments like that are why grievances as yours are quite common but again, when it comes to Classic, you should hopefully be okay. o.O

Never dabbled in P99 myself as the rare moments I pick up EQ2,people seem more chill there.

Really appreciate that. Yes my depressed, socially awkward butt could just go play Skyrim forever and fade into the shadows, but I am at least trying to make connections here with people and succeed in a multiplayer game. Even if no one else around me wants to take. I do think I deserve a little credit for trying at least.

And credit you have! Some people are just butt fedoras, don’t let it get you down! Take it from someone whose ideal evening rather than going out to party is a quiet evening at home playing a game, watching a movie, drawing random stuff in my sketchbooks and giving my cat many pettings. All you gotta do is keep trying and worse case,Classic and other MMOs will have people willing to group up with you to get things done or at least have some helpful guides along the way. It’s not your doing,P99 just sounds like they’re a buncha grumpy old vets looking to cheese everything. :stuck_out_tongue:

Everquest is a more niche game, less people playing it, and it has a sequel that most people are playing instead, WoW does not, I’m sure Classic will have enough players to do group content.

Thanks for that, it does mean a lot.

Ironically I am responding to this thread mere hours before my very first counselor’s appointment to try to help sort out some of these issues I have, lol.

Well, hope that goes well for ya,bro!
