I think there should be a system to report players that choose to leave the group while the run is happening. With consequences being you cannot queue for or create a group for 1hr and increasing if there are subsequent offences. The time only decreasing while that character is online and pausing while logged off.
Any thoughts or criticisms?

No, why would you force them to stay in a terribad group that wipes for an hour for a 20% chance of loot?

what if the M+ is a M+17 and the group decides itād take them many hours to finish?

Terrible idea, highly abusable.
Also, you are not entitled to their time.

It should lower your IO XD
I think you missed the part where a run might take 1 or 2 hours to finish, so punish people by forcing them to sit in a dead run for 2h or lower IO? And a 20% chance of loot, aka nothing but 35 anima? That would kill M+ forever.

The idea is to limit/punish the people that rage-quit after a single wipe or something trivial. Not punish the group as a whole. Similar to Overwatch (if someone leaves you are not punished if you choose to bail out after).
If the group keeps wiping on the first boss 3 or 4 times Iād be outā¦I canāt imagine how the rest of the bosses would go. Tmer would fail.

I get those wipefests, no one wants to spend an hour watching people wipe for a 1/4 chance of loot. My worst experience is someone leaving after 1 wipe and we were making good time to +2 the key. Maybe a friend logged on or gf aggro. Things happen itās just a game.

why should i be forced to stay in a group that keeps wiping over and over and over? thatās the risk you take when you create a pug group.

I have never run current-content mythics but the common solution of āmake your own groupā seems to apply here as well. Breaking out the pen and paper of and making a list of people that you believe to be horrible offenders from bouncing may be good too. You can have your own personal blacklist of people not to invite, or avoid grouping with if you are the one invited.
Itād have to be a real-life emergency for me to leave a group. Iāve literally slogged it out for an hour+ before with 4 1/2 players otherwise.
That said, Iām not sure why ābe nice to each otherā isnāt a sufficient motivation to make this happen.
And if we really need the stick approach, just include āincompleteā keys on the WoW leaderboard, to be picked up by raider IO.
yes but not everyone has the time/want/desire to sit and slam their head into a wall in a dead key for hours.
its not even like the key disappears, not that big of a deal.
ez solution to this is if the timer is expired then no consequence for leaving. Iām pretty confident the OP is talking about people who leave when the keyās can still be completed on time, etc. such as those individuals who do a bad pull and wipe, and are too big of an ego to face any critics or simply say āoops my badā and instead leave within the first few minutes of the dungeonā¦

Lol no. If noobs are wiping on the first few trash packs then everyoneās time is being wasted. I usually give groups up til the first boss to get into the rhythm but if not then Iām out.

You can early predict if the timer is going to fail. Iām not going to sit in there through wipes while āwe got timeā when its obvious were not gonna make it, waste of time.

Aww, whereās the fun in that?
Sometimes itās hilarious good fun to run a key with what must be someoneās little brother tagging along, hugging the tornadoes, getting knocked off the platform by the oil, standing in all the brambles and blood patches, not dodging at dodge ball, etc.
depends on the dungeon⦠take Sanguine depths for example. you literally can wipe badly multiple times in a row, and still make timer because that timer is extremely loose⦠yet iāve been in groups where a ret**ded tank pulled way too many mobs, then proceed to leave group.
Hell iāve even been in a SD group with 7 minutes left on the timer and the group was telling the tank to play it safe because we had so much time but the moronic tank decided to pull the 2nd to last pack together with the entire last room of trash before the last boss and quit when the group inevitably wiped and the healer rightfully chastised them in chat. We still had 4-5 minutes left on the timer; plenty to clear the couple of mobs that survived, prideful and the boss with a large margin (hero was off cd too).
