Player housing

That’s the perfect discerption!

Blizzard shot down that idea years ago. Their one and only comment on guild halls was “Guild halls sound like great fun for the GM, not so much for everyone else.”

And that was that.

In case you didn’t read it the first time…

"The dream of player housing is still alive and it’s something we want to do, but it isn’t a thing we will be able to do in Dragonflight.

Yeah, because they’d have to recode the game engine.

You can’t even drop stuff on the ground in WoW and pick it up afterwards, the game just isn’t built from the ground-up to handle the movement of objects.

The Mr.Potato Head system they used in garrisons is the only way they can do it, and since that’s off the table (because the player housing crowd says it’s unacceptable) there’s no other solution.

And like he said, it would take MULTIPLE expansions to recode the game for that.

And then if people say “THAT’S NOT HOUSING” again, it was all for nothing. Not a risk they’ll take.

But sure, Ion’s gonna string you along. That’s what he does.

I don’t trust them to do it now.
having a clueless director screws the whole game.
looks how the game is now
it can easily be so much better… just a better director is needed then housing could be possible.

The dream may be alive, but I’m not entirely convinced there’s a consensus on what exactly the dream is.

I don’t want mythic plus, yet here we are. Sometimes games can add things that aren’t your cup of tea and that’s OK. Cope.

I think they could conjure up a few new BGs in a fraction of the time it would take them to work out player housing.

You’re missing the point why I just type out “garrisons”.

Player housing will be WoD 2.0. The community in this game will be damaged in the long run if the Devs decide to cater to closet introverts. Also, I would think player housing would only last one expansion. Waste of resources.

That… and logging in just to see an empty world where players cannot be found sound absolutely terrible.

There’s a reason I don’t play that game and that is one of them. I actually didn’t know that was a thing but god that sounds terrible

Not an house.

“an” house?

I used to play a very old MMO call Dark Ages of Camelot and their player housing was very enjoyable.

You could buy plots of lands in a instance type setting, the bigger the plot the more it cost.

Once you had your plot you would build your house, using farmed materials, add a choice of NPCs like for gear repairs, professions for personal or friend/guild use. (as you set your permissions)

You could farm rares and raid bosses for trophies, like the bosses mounted head, that you could display in your house.

You could also use your house to sell your toon’s profession gear kinda like a personal AH.

I don’t think you know what a house is then.

Is it stupid that i’m laughing at that?

The old grammar mocking when all else fails

If we ever do get housing, I want it to have zero practical aspect. I don’t want an auction house, I don’t want resource nodes, I don’t want anything other than a mailbox and maybe crafting benches (anvils for blacksmiths, stuff like that) because having all that utility is one of the numerous reasons garrisons failed so hard.

I know asking for something on the level of FFXIV’s housing system is off the table given WoW’s engine, but I think having something like this mockup someone did a few months back has a really good structure for how it could work in WoW.

Considering that it is the first post made by that user along with the fact it is an easily avoidable typo…

Yes. Yes it is rather funny.

I can also see this thread loves to kick dead horses.

I hope WoW dies to a private server that manages to implement this.

I definitely want the ability to go into other player’s houses unless they’re locked. Not in a creepy way…I like seeing how people decorate

Ya know what, that’s a good point. :dracthyr_comfy_sip:
