Playable Covenant Races

You kill the Dark iron because in Cataclysm they were in a middle of a war for the dwarven seat of power until they established the three hammers. Some of the dark iron did not accept this and they rebelled. They had joined the alliance since cataclysm and was the original justification for dwarven warlocks and mages since the dark iron taught them how to do that stuff, they even changed some customization options to represent dark irons, but then we got the allied race.

Why would it make zero sense?

They have every reason to come to our realm. We’re helping them fix their problems, which some have came from our realm, and this is all paramount to the continuation of reality’s existence. I would say those are pretty good reasons to send some of their members to our realm; to help keep things in check.

The races could be introduced as neutral, just like the Pandaren. Players would then choose which faction to join. It’s pretty simple since it has already been done.

This would be similar to other playable races who are able to use conflicting sources of magic. Take void elves for example. You can be a holy, void elf priest, using the light. It’s just game mechanics.
There is a current push for class skins, and this would solve a lot of lore and game juxtapositions.

Like I said plenty of new Kyrian souls are former azeroth souls, they may want to help protect azeroth if they keep there memories. The Archon could send willing kyrians to defend there homeworld just as much as bolvar sends out his dks. If the Archon thinks reality is going to get messed sending some kyrian forces to help allies out isn’t something that we haven’t already seen in Shadowlands.

Kyrians are based on Angels. Angels= means messengers of god. And you can pray to certain angels for stuff like protection…
Kyrian are the sort of wow messengers that deliver souls into the shadowlands, but we have seen many of there forces also be able to participate in combat to defend the shadowlands and Bastion.

If they made class skins a thing, Would love to have them change some class specs to kyrian magics. Always wanted an undead/death paladin and Kyrians would be a nice fit for that. As they are sort of what the Val’kyr were modeled after.

This isn’t correct. Some Kyrians are from Azeroth, and those who join their ranks are able to keep their memories if they so choose. They have Uther to thank for that choice. If they would like to continue supporting the systems as they are now, which is kind of their whole point, I would say that’s motivation.

Yes but you can’t fit them into the story.
Why would a Kyrian that probably has been there for eons in the shadowlands go to durotar as a lvl 1 priest…
No sense at all.

They wouldn’t make sense to be lvling in Outland or BFA or Cataclysm or any expansion.

Pandarens from the wandering isle had 2 inner factions that worked with what the Alliance and the Horde are.
If you ask me they do not make much sense to me either. But from lore perspective they chose factions just to teach them a different way instead of fighting each other so, it’s ok in lore but not well implemented in-game.

The thing is Void elves can be priest because they created the race though as a shadow priest. Lore wise Void elves can’t use the light. Them using the light is just an in-game mechanic, but lorewise Void elves priest are just shadow.

Kyrians on the other side can’t be any of the priest specs. They do not use light nor the shadows. Not even Uther who was one of the greatest paladins can use or feel the light as a kyrian even with his memory intact.

Shadowlands isn’t like a country you go and do tourism and be like oh that was fun now I’ll go back to home.
It’s a complete different realm with it’s own system and rules to make sure the cycle of nothing else than DEATH keeps running. It’s not like oh well you want to go back to Azeroth? sure babe go and be free have fun save your friends from the scarlet crusade! . It has it’s rules and a big purpose.

This could happen, but not a really big excuse to make a playable race out of it.

No, Kyrian model is based on angels. That doesn’t make them angels from the christianity religion. As lore states, kyrians are just ferries for souls to get to the shadowlands, nothing more, they do not go through the worlds saving and protecting people like guardian angels.

This does make sense and it could totally work lorewise and in-game.

Kyrians are not light beings, and they do not have control of the light. In reality Kyrians are enemies of the light.

Also Dks are a class and Kyrians are a race, you can’t really compare them.

I think they’re going off the Kyrian hiding themselves from mortals in the pursuit of their job.

There isn’t any evidence that the others do that as far as I am aware.

Do you have a source for this? A lot of folk say it but I’ve never really found anything from the devs.

Love what you did there. Gorgeous.

Yes, Bastion covenant quest Ben Howell.

As pointed out, this is NOT in the living plane, this is the Veil, as can be discerned by the “ghost” music that always plays in the Veil when one is dead…

As pointed out some of the Nathrezim (notably Malganis) and the Mawsworn, can be seen in the living plane and are denizens of the afterlife (Malganis unlike other Dreadlords seems to use Death energy rather than Fel).

As this article points out, even living mortals with the right equipment can see into the Veil, or even enter it for short periods.

I don’t think venthyr would be accepted anywhere in mortal realms. They all live off anima. You know soul juice. The san’layn were based on them. Also the holy light burns them to ash but even regular light like in bastion made was difficult for theortar. A venthyr in tanaris would be the ember ward all over again except this thing is kind of immortal and wants to feed on your actual soul. Slowly. Painfully.

I’m still pondering NIGHT :full_moon_with_face: Elves honestly… (like I know they’re “Night” Elves from Warcraft but Wood Elves from like Tolkien just seems a more fitting race name)

yeah they just prefer the night because of their goddess. They don’t haveallergic reactions to light. They don’t scream in pain in the presence of the Holy Light. Rather they wield it. Even Wardens who are all night elves use the motto, “May the Night shroud you in shadow and the moon illuminate your enemies” because they’re like dh,druid, rogue combo things who fight from the shadows but they don’t burst into flames when the sun comes up.

They probably didn’t call them wood elves because thalassian elves look like tolkien’s elves. Night Elves are a blizzard unique representation of elves. Players would have lost their minds. “That Tyrande lady looks nothing like Galadriel REEEEE”

It’s not because of their goddess. They’re nocturnal.

They don’t like being awake during the day.

Yeah because they’re dark trolls. I’ll bet most of Elune’s followers on various planets are nocturnal but none of them explode in the sunlight. Night Elves fought the whole war of the shifting sands in silithus. Pretty bright there.

Denathrius made dreadlords after the venthyr because he realized the same thing. Oh my first kids can’t really do sunlight so lemme make a new batch for my other plans. Venthyr are as cunning and deceptive as dreadlords but could never actually to go places like the Lifelands or the Lightlands.

I was only commenting on the night elf bit.

Don’t care much about Blizzards plot holes with the venthyr.

Those quests still don’t support that claim though. As stated and seen in that video, the Kyrians are visiting other worlds through the veil to collect souls. This doesn’t mean there’s no way races from the Shadowlands can’t be seen in the living plane. The veil is kind of it’s own thing, separate from the living realm.

I am under the impression that things will be fixed to an extent towards the end of the expansion, but things will forever be different involving the Shadowlands moving forward. The covenants have already adopted some forms of change, and there’s still the possibility that things will change even more when this expansion is wrapped up.

There will most likely be some sort of portal connecting our realms, just like there is for other worlds and the emerald dream… I will be surprised if Blizzard cuts us off from the Shadowlands completely.

Every opinions are great and is good for us to have but I would have rather play any of those three expansions you’ve mentioned than this expansion. At least I had fun with PvP and leveling in WoD than Shadowlands. I have no motivation at all to log in now.
