Psychological disabilities primarily.
I went from 110kg to 70kg, and honestly Iâll say weight loss is more of a mental battle. You need to figure out your habits, your goals, your excuses, and sometimes, even figuring out your own life philosophy. Everything else like diet and exercise falls in place when you figure out how to navigate your mental dialogue and learn how to balance honesty and kindness to yourself.
But honestly a lot of these things are just words. What Iâd focus on for now is to just start something small. Convince yourself that you can spare yourself 5 minutes to just do like 20 jumping jacks and push ups. Your brain is better at responding to (and is more resistant to) actual action than just what you think you want to do.
Ultimately when you just step in and do something, you start to realize you know how to navigate things. A lot of it is just pushing yourself through that initial discomfort.
Also, since you say you have a standing desk, squats. SUPER underrated exercise. You can put your hands on your desk to hold some weight while you are building up your strength (if you feel the need). Then you can do like 3 of those every minute for an hour and by then youâve done 180 squats. Flight path? Squats. Died and waiting for rez? Squats! I donât know, youâre getting late night Rita. But I hope youâre feeling ok.
Hello OP.
I cant tell you what the solution is for you.
But i strongly recommend you talk to someone irl, friend, family, therapist.
This online community of ours is great (by and large) and well support you virtually, but looking someone in the eye, physical contact, a clap on the shoulder, a hug.
We cannot give you this.
Start walking. 1 mile day, then 2 then 3.
then start walking faster, and faster.
Diet is good and important but move your body. Thats more than physical, sunshine, air all of that.
But first and foremost talk to someone.
Call me if you dont have anyone to talk to.
Lol I play a Kul Tiran because Iâm skinny/lanky, and I play WoW so much that I felt my in-game avatar should look the part, lmfao.
Also, echoing what others have said-
Invest in a standing desk.
Chairs, especially sitting in them for a long time, which you will be doing, is sedentary.
No chair will fix your posture. You just have to slouch less, and having to stand helps fix that.
This honestly. And I wouldnât go asking the WoW forums on anything personal like this. Youâre bound to get unsupportive comments and itâs not necessarily against the community guidelines.
Weight loss requires no effort. All you need to do is stop eating carbohydrates and you will lose weight regardless of what you spend your time doing.
wake up 2 hours earlier, hit up the gym, get done gym, enjoy wow. Fixed.
Maybe the issue is that you are waiting for someone or something to save you. No one can do that, certainly not some random dude online who only shows part of his life, and Im guessing these moments are cherry picked.
If you want to change, then change. Imo what is important is to accept who you are and work with what you got, instead of chasing unicorns.
Losing weight is a way better thing to spend your time on then this dumb game. You deserve to live a long and healthy life
I mean you when you said you live in a city with 63% of the population being obese, you are by definition âfineâ and ânormalâ.
America itself is pretty much the IRL version of Kul Tiras.
I worked with a nutritionist when it came to my diet and I have done a lot of research to make sure this was a good solid died that made sense. All diets come with risks, so picking on me about advising when it comes to diets seems kind of irresponsible. Instead, you should be telling anyone and everyone to seek advice from their healthcare provider or a specialist in this area.
Also, this type of diet, which limits carbohydrates and processed foods and replaces them with wholesome vegetables, proteins, and fats, which is accepted by mainstream health care providers as being nutritious canât be all that bad.
As long as your working out staying consistent and watch what you putting into you body(less junk and processed foods when possible) you should be fine. I would also recommend getting up and stretching every hour you do spend gaming as this will help keep your body from getting stiff do to lack of circulation.
Never forget that there are people that eat 4k calories every day and look like a size zero model and truly suffer under it.
You may look at your weight and feel bad about it, but believe me there are people and they are not few, that wish they had your options to gain weight that easily.
For them gaining 5 pounds can be a milestone with a lot of suffering on the way.
Unless you truly suffer under massive weight issues, so that your organs and bones / joints break down, be happy that you have a healthy body, no matter if you feel that you may have a few pounds too many compared to your âideal weightâ.
A bit of sports and low sugar products should be on everyones daily routine, no matter the age or weight btw.
Do you drink a lot of things that arenât water?
Surgary drinks (even alcohol) is what gets a lot of people. Just shaving off a few hundred calories can be the difference between weight gain and loss.
yeah, I mean they arenât legion either. And how is that supposed to make her feel better anyways? âyouâre missing your left arm, stop your complaining, the dude next door lost his right arm and no heâs not a leftyâ
If your life is in shambles or in your case body dysphoria, you should put forth more effort in fixing that problem. Wow is for entertainment.
Look,
I run a fitness group, we are about 10 people, most are women. Each time a new group forms, I ask the members about their goals.
Guess what happens? Totally healthy women or girls tell me that their goal is to lose weight. But they dont just want to lose some weight, but a huge amount so that they would look more like a skeleton than a female. The media has messed up people so much its frustrating and luckily most can be convinced that higher stamina, more muscles and a healthy diet are goals to strive for and not a silly number in their heads.
Thats why I said, that she should not worry that much unless there is a true medical reason for her desire to lose weight, as I explained with the bones structure, joints or heart problems / mental issues.
That she feels bad about her weight is not because of the weight, but because of her not having convidence in herself.
Even if the weight goes down, maybe something else will come and drop her level of self believe.
Thats why weight is often seen as a symptom but not the actual illness. My advice would be to start eating normal again, but based on a healthy diet.
A big mistake people do is eating the wrong things and not so much the amount. There is a big difference in eating 500g of potatos and 500g of noodles for example.
Noodles have just 1/3 of the calories, but they still fill your belly and you can add nice things to it, without adding too many additional calories like with cod and some souce of vegetables or Honey Mustard Dill.
Not eating like a normal person can cause a depression, especially if you eat once but the wrong stuff and your weight does not move into the desired direction.
So from my point of view, there is nothing wrong with playing WOW, reading Mangas or watching TV⊠but add in between your meals and these structured so that you have breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Going out a bit maybe for 30 - 60 minutes after having breakfast or meeting up with people that share your hobby in the afternoon, can also lift the mood. I am wondering if there might be a Manga club in town she could visit.
Sometimes there are also cook clubs, this would help with a more structured food shedule that is also more healthy, plus the social interaction with others in a similar situation.
The weight will automatically stop being a problem, once she finds more positivity in her life and once this happens, it will start moving into a more pleasent direction for her by its own.
Being unhappy destroys so much in life, we only have one so we should try to make the best out of it and I hope she can find the joy again.
I went on keto dropped from 229 to 160 my lowest. But I fell off keto and intermittent fasting and now back up to the same weight more or less. I feel as you to tbh. I have poor body image and want to get back down.
My issue is I have a hard time maintaining my willpower to not eat high carb foods as my partner likes to order door dash often and at times orders food. I want to get back down⊠I am likewise trying so hard lol.
itâs not an either/or thing. weight loss happens in the kitchen, everything else is supplementary. however with the way society is spiraling out of control, i would certainly recommend some exercise.
