I 100% agree. Too bad we will never be able to really see that outcome.
Although I would lean toward Whaazz due to his comp and Swapxy being one of the most oppressive ele shamans in the game at that time showcased the pinnacle of what outlaw/ele was capable of. But Pika’s RPS was definitely not something anyone would want to meddle with too. I honestly was imagining how much more balanced and exciting a late Legion Blizzcon would have been.
Not sure what’s up with the EU attitudes lately, pretty disappointing.
Whaaz having an ego doesn’t make him a worse player, he’s a better rogue mechanically 100%.
you’re either better or you’re not.
that’s like saying cdew isbetter than absterge “positionally” or “cd management”
either you are better or you are not.
pika is just a natural at rogue and he is better from everything we have seen.
I don’t think you know the difference between a mechanical player and one that just has great game knowledge.
Like literally the strengths of Pika vs Whaazz is Whaazz plays off of game knowledge, always going for really safe plays based on his overall knowledge of the game.
Pika on the other hand is that while he isn’t someone who just has a playbook of everything to do in every situation, he sees and reacts to things happening instantly and makes clutch plays off of them happening, and finds kills in situations they shouldn’t happen or are entirely unexpected. That’s because he’s great mechanically, he creates windows out of nothing.
If you watch Whaazz his play is clean and organized and you already know when he’s won or lost. It’s not unexpected that something happens. Everything he does is planned out, and he makes it’ll work out with little risks. Plays like that are entirely made off of game knowledge because there’s nothing really crazy you have to do. My favorite Whaazz play is when his RMP mirrored Ratapai, Akro, and Maro. He did an incredible bait in order to kill Akro, based on his absolute perfect knowledge of the game and understanding exactly how his opponents would react to that situation, and took the kill. That is not mechanics, that is intelligent play.
The only mechanical plays you can make are off of clutch reactions when things aren’t planned out, when you make a play happen out of nothing etc. It’s actually extremely risky to rely on mechanics because if you are just doing that things are sloppy enough that if you fail them you lose immediately. Pika just takes enough risks and always pushes his limits that he almost never fails when he goes for his plays.
TL;DR Whaazz is worse than Pika mechanically, but has the best game knowledge of any rogue. That’s Whaazz’s strength and there’s a lot of value to it. (This is also why Whaazz was the best Outlaw rogue in legion - waiting for perfectly safe opportunities to end a game is how that spec shined).
I don’t argue with the fact that Whaazz’s has greater game knowledge than Pika. But I highly doubt that he is worse off than Pika when it comes to mechanical gameplay. If anything the discrepancy between the two is barely noticeable in that aspect, but they’re definitely pretty close. Pika might have an edge when it comes to flashy and quick plays, but Whaazz has emulated or displayed skill of equivalence. Its surely a contentious topic, but after watching both rogues at multiple tourney settings its difficult to say with assurance.
Yeah I’m not saying Whaazz is awful in that regard but you said it yourself, Pika has that edge in flashy and quick plays which is pretty much exactly what having better mechanics do
Otherwise WoW is just fluid game knowledge and decisions especially if you have a very scripted gameplan.
