As a hunter main, I disagree. Meta locks are the closest thing in the game to a free kill for hunters. It’s like McGregor punching a toddler in the face.
Meta locks wreck pretty much everything else though. Honestly meta locks are insanely strong and should stop QQing that they have a hard counter when they can snooze their way to a victory against any other class.
isnt because hunters are using Beast mastery runes and beast mastery talents? so what guess hunters shouldnt play pets and beast mastery AT ALL.

Poison out damages Lock dots too. Does 2 times as much. It’s actually wild. Scorpid pet is like a pocket lock with melee damage who is a raid boss.
Pets really shouldn’t ever out damage Classes. It actually shouldn’t even be close.
Pets really should be about utility/buffs. They are doing 4-5 times too much damage and ruining gameplay. Sorry but it’s just not healthy for the game OR any MMO for that matter.
Pet builds are ok for Diablo 2 where you are a Summoner and some ARPGs where it’s solo play.
So to answer your question. A Beastmaster hunter should have a pet that gives the Raid some sort of Utility or Buff.
Pet cant solo you unless you have no idea what you are doing. The hunter isnt just sitting there playing with himself while the pet does all the work. Question is…what are you doing?
Scorpid Pets still OP - needs nerf
It absolutely can. The Pets dots are way stronger than Sunfire or Lock dots while also doing melee damage. It’s actually hard to heal through just the pet damage.
The Pets soloing everything is the problem.
Dotting and draining the Hunter. I assumed it was going to be a free win because I literally spent 100% of the fight in melee range not letting him shoot me even once.
I didn’t go into this fight knowing that the Hunter pet was going to be able to solo me through drainlife and haunt healing.
Nerf scorpid then hunter literally has nothing. We are just basic Era.
The build might be strong, sure and Pets might be brainless BUT its the only thing hunter has going.
Lonewolf was nerf before release, explosive and chim shot were nerf two days into release. Then Scorpids, pets and kill command were nerf slightly.
Nerf pets then what does hunter have in SoD… Answer this. No wait. Hunter be a stat stick at 25 and a stat stick at 60 unless something changes.
Insted of nerfing hunter why not… buff the other classes shock face

Scorpid poisons shouldn’t have stronger Dots then Dot Classes just stop. It shouldn’t be a Raid boss that solo’s. Their damage is 4-5 times too high. Pets should bring some utility instead.

They should probably ask their pet to solo the dungeons for them.
They should but as of right now they haven’t. I was looking at other classes to play as I don’t want by that type of hunter and I’m not enjoying hunter in SoD. But Hunter the only class I enjoy it seems.
I always said they should, even in retail.
A simple idea. A rune that when ever a hunter pet crits, every ally around get small increase to movement or something. Plus pet has increase crit.
Boom. Some damage and utility.

Which means you deserve to be dumpstered EVEN MORE. You are pretending above your station, cannon fodder. You deserve to be put back down where you belong simply because your only claim to relevance comes from an AI controlled pet that is as hard to use as Moonfire and you feel entitled to have something that braindead carrying you.
I personally have always played Marksman, because Beast Mastery is lame. Their pets have always out dpsd the hunter, and solod clothies when BM spec, and it’s even more potent in SoD with the runes.
Sounds like it’s working as intended though. Should be funny when hunters get big red next bracket.
I got 1v1 by a hunters pet on my bis tank warrior and it wasn’t even close. I couldn’t get it to 50% hp.

Yes we know scorpid poison isn’t scaling as intended and no idk why it’s taking so long for a fix.
Kill command, wyvern being an extremely good indicator that the hunter has the rune.
Also, Lightning breath gets roughly 10% of the RAP scaling scorp poison has, but we have access to rank 3 at lvl 25. Next phase is still capped at rank 3.
The only problematic ability is scorp poison which deals insane dmg despite being capped at rank 1 (lvl 8).
