Petition to rework Crackshot - Outlaw

Crackshot is a skill that works on the oposite direction with outlaw’s class fantasy and identity, it forces outlaw players into a playstyle that should belong to subtetly. It makes us use vanish as an offensive cooldown, forcing us into stealth all the time. In PVP it’s the only window where outlaw has kill potential and it’s easily shutdown by CC. Instead, we could have an ability like “load the chamber” that empowers and make the next 3-4 BTW not have a cooldown, or even bake something like this in roll the bones to avoid button bloat (dont think it’s necessary since SND will be passive). We should move away outlaw from this “subtetly wannabe” gameplay and let it have it’s own identity

I remember toward the end of shadowland, the last tier set would lauch tornado trigger and that was so much fun.
No BS into using vanish, you fired your gun and when you had 6 bullet: blast away.
It was basically a minigame of loading your gun and unloading into someone’s face.

That paired with the Concealed blunderbuss and Greenskin wickers (both became talents), we’re so close of a fun build … It was simple, gun-centric, fun, big numbers

While I do not fundamentally hate the crackshot playstyle, I do just have yet another layer of rng in place for a spec that’s just 100% gambling. I miss MFD, I do miss the Sepulcher Outlaw version we had with pistol shot being big too, it was fun and intuitive and did well overall just because it cleaned up a bit of the rng mess we normally have. That being said, I think there’s just too many die hards right now that “love” the crackshot playstyle. My issue with it is mostly the rng but also the amount of time it bugs out, whether vanish doesn’t fire fast enough or we just get the visual bug with the ability. Hopefully, they flush out some of these changes with the PTR patch.

Overall i do agree, they need to rework crackshot or make a pistol shot build more viable again, or just simply go back to old combat style rogue with some more nuance to it that doesn’t involve the vanish playstyle.

I didn’t get to play with this tier set but it looks super fun and way more “outlaw” than vanish + crackshot

I don’t dislike Sublaw but it is bad design that there are no other builds that can compete in terms of DPS, burst, utility, etc.

I think the biggest problem is that Sinister Strike is so weak as a combo point builder. Sinister Strike is slipping into Hemo territory but Hemo was a low energy combo point builder and that made it valuable for utility and also in a pinch if you could not be behind a target for backcstabs.

Sinister Strike energy cost is too high and the second chance for Sinister Strike to go off is too low.

I miss CBB and GSW with Tornado Trigger… The machine gun pistol was just a hilarious build that was beyond fun in execution for zero reason.

And when I felt spicy, I would swap out GSW for Celerity for the extra ADR uptime and zoom procs out in keys.

I kind of wish Celerity had made a resurgence in our talent trees as an end-cap or something instead of Crackshot. I’d be a lot happier with the options with just those changes alone, instead of what we have now, which is a singular, binary option of “pick this or don’t do damage.”

Celerity would be an interesting idea to bring back, but then you know that BlizZard has a budget for X amount of energy talents or overall potential energy for the spec and class.

The thing that makes Crackshot appealing is that it’s Outlaw’s ‘burst’, so removing that stealth ‘window’ needs to be re-imagined without detracting from Ace Up Your PoopChute.

You could make it a CD (so players have agency like popping Vanish) that’s effected by Restless Blades and acts like the old Dread Blades for six-eight seconds; where BtE has no CD during the buff and Ace has a higher % chance proc rate and fills your combo points completely instead of only five.

It’s still spammy without the clunkiness of Subterfuge.

Its funny what you’re asking for is exactly how things worked back in BFA with Ace up your sleeve and Greenskin wickers, but the devs decided that was too broken.
