Petition to Change The Fused Vitality & Unalloyed Abundance System

This is my petition and proposal to change the cost of Fused Vitality for epic profession gear. Please comment and like this post to make sure Blizzard notices how ridiculous the current system is.

I know there have been a lot of posts about this, but I want to start one with the math for the current system, and give a proposal to Blizzard for a fix to how much the community hates this current system. If you agree, please comment your input and feedback, and please like my comment/post so Blizzard notices.

Lets pull up the math on how long it will take to get ONE character fully equipped with epic profession gear.

Here is the math for the current system, and please note that this is without missing a week or getting less than 900 Unalloyed Abundance per run.

3 tools for main two professions = 6

2 tools for cooking

1 tool for fishing

= 9 tools in total

20 Fused Vitality per item x 9 items = 180 Fused Vitality

800 Unalloyed Abundance per Fused Vitality x 180 Fused Vitality = 144,000 Fused Vitality

144,000 / the max per run of 900 = 160 runs = 160 Shards

160 Shards / 8 Shards maximum per week = 20 weeks

160 runs x 3 minutes per run = 480 minutes / 60 minutes = 8 hours

Now lets double this, and then triple this, and so on for those who have multiple alts. With how much the community is outraged by this and voicing how gruesome and annoying the grind is for Fused Vitality, and now with the actual time it will take for just ONE character to get epic profession gear it looks even more disgusting and worse.

I honestly do enjoy the Abundance event, especially while in a raid. It’s so fast paced and satisfying how quickly it goes; I love it. It’s a lot of fun to me. It also gives us something to do when we are bored and achievements to chase. It should NOT be time gating our epic profession equipment for 20 weeks per character though. That is obscene and awful.

I vote that Blizzard makes the crafting require only 5 Fused Vitality and reduce the cost to 400 Unalloyed Abundance. Below is the new math for this proposal:

5 Fused Vitality per item x 9 items = 45 Fused Vitality

400 Unalloyed Abundance per Fused Vitality x 45 Fused Vitality = 18,000 Fused Vitality

18,000 / the max per run of 900 = 20 runs = 20 shards

20 Shards / 8 Shards maximum per week = 2.5 weeks

20 runs x 3 minutes per run = 60 minutes / 60 minutes = 1 hour

If you agree with this proposed change to the Fused Vitality requirements, please comment your input and feedback, and please like my comment so Blizzard actually notices it.

Lets make sure Blizzard knows how much the community is against the current design and how awful it is to spend 20 weeks (without missing a week or getting less than 900 Unalloyed Abundance per run) to fully gear ONE character with epic profession equipment.

seems like making people with an army of alt crafters to not be able to get full epic profession equipment easily is the intended goal

That is a valid reason. But does that justify putting someone’s main on a 20 weeks minimum time gate to get the epic profession equipment?

Yeah, I agree something needs to change. It takes a while to even understand you need the dundun unless your on the forums. I thought this would be a moxie thing.

Agreed, Abundance is such a boring grind and the total time required too craft each item is insane.

I’ll comment on this. The whole system needs a rework. I can’t level on my alt in Harandar because the abundance event is going on there. It’s creating massive input delay across the whole zone.

I also don’t even enjoy doing it. All I do is go in there, wait for a flower to spawn, run around in circles to collect abundance and then deposit it. All with significant input delay. I’m not even killing creatures at this point. Not that I could if I wanted to with my abilities taking a century to cast off.

I wouldn’t mind them just scrapping abundance. It’s clearly not working as intended, and if it is, it’s bad game design.

This is my only major problem with it. If they’re going to require like 8 hours of effort, I guess that’s whatever. But I should be able to power through that over a weekend and be done with it.. I don’t want to have to be doing this boring activity every week.

I agree with you that it shouldn’t take over a week of dedicated grinding. Maybe something where the 8 shard drop resets daily instead of weekly, along with cost reductions, too.

I would just like to bin the whole thing. Or I run it (once) and get talent/skill points on professions. Leave the cosmetic rewards. That you have to run this 8 (!!!) times across multiple weeks is nuts.

100% agree, if you don’t want us getting epic profession equipment on alt armies, I suppose this is a way to do that even if I don’t quite understand why you would want that.

If there were multiple ways to get Fused Vitality, that’d be a step in the right direction. You don’t have to put it on mythic raid bosses or anything, but make it something you could reasonably assume you’ll get by just playing the game, not just this one event.

So I’m an alt-o-holic, in saying that, this system was fun last week, albeit mildly tedious. But since the changes, it’s horrific. I respect adjustment in regards to server impact/performance, that is obvious. However now I’m genuinely struggling to cap out each Dundun shard use, often I’m reduced to 600 or in some instances 300.

Part of the pain isn’t even the Abundance event, it’s just finding world treasures with the weird phasing (for non lvl 90 characters) which is again, a penalty, on top of the RNG of a losing streak of finding 12 treasures in 30 minutes and getting 2 shards. The time sink is wholly unnecessary. Whatever happened to going outside Dornogal, and just doing a dirt pile sweep, get your weekly stuff and move on. This problem has numerous layers of fail.

The orbs despawn WAY too fast, like I can’t run across the room to loot others. I often go into an Abundance with maybe 1-3 people if I’m lucky, the place is dead, whether through people being disgusted, or some insane phasing I don’t know.

Knowing I need 16k PER epic item is obscene. It looked like a grind last week, but there was some element of fun and each cycle was a solid 900 without issue. Now… holy @#$%. Once or twice I’ve been limited to 300 reward, and that’s working the full 3 minute solid in the instance alone. Sometimes it’ll be several events before I see just 1 bonus event, and it’s RNG if it’s actually a good one.

They need to massively increase orb life duration, a higher default multiplier for very low occupancy phases, and hell just an overall reduction in the cost of the crafting reagents. It feels purely like punishment, even doing it on my main, god forbid 7 alts.

I strongly suspect I’ll just ignore the system, make do, I can make gold other ways. But for an “anticipated” system, it’s a gigantic fail now. Stop punishing players for playing the game their way, if they want to go hard on professions, why gatekeep it so brutally.

I’m on the other end of this. To me, it is a colossal failure. While I did have a blast in a raid group, it’s a “so bad its good” kind of fun. I got enough currency for one epic tool and I felt zero sense of accomplishment. I felt a “well I’m glad that’s over” feeling and I have no intention to do it again for the other epic pieces on any character. I am an achievement chaser but I will not be going after any more achievements related to this content.

No amount of adjustments to how much abundance we get per run, how much it takes to buy one fused vitality, or how much fused vitality it takes to make one epic tool, will get me to engage with this content.

And this isn’t even taking into account the transmogs and other items you can buy with unalloyed abundance

The event gameplay wise is fun but the timegating and grind is bs

“Fully geared” could be 2 tools on some builds. My engineer needs both a multicraft and resourcefulness tool to be fully geared for example.

I don’t think they’re going to be making changes here unless the noise gets loud enough. The current cost of 20 Fused per epic profession equipment was a last-minute beta change. I’m pretty sure the change went from 5->10->20 over the course of a few days right before early access. They knew what they were doing.

Needing to do multiple tools for a lot of professions to have both multicraft and resourcefulness at a minimum makes it so much worse. We should get a discount on the Fused requirement of the craft if we’ve already gotten one for a specific profession’s tool. Or, they could just re-lower the cost since it’s ridiculous.

At present, I won’t even be touching cooking or fishing as far as epic gear goes for the next 13 weeks.

Seems like they did make changes recently, by nerfing the amount you can share in raid groups… as if this event didn’t suck enough

Hard agree on all of this. No better take than this.

This event sucks. Just put cosmetics behind it and not necessary mats.

People hated Torghast because power was tied to it. Untie power rewards.

I already didn’t like the math originally, but now that I’ve used shards on one character and got nothing due to game glitches, and then tried to farm it on another character after the nerf and only got 600 per shard reliably, it feels even more defeating. I was already considering ignoring this event altogether even though I want to advance my professions.

Spending thirty minutes (plus) a week doing this mindless event on every crafting character for months does not sound like a fun time, particularly since there’s not a catchup mechanic. They really should come up with an alternate solution to obtain currency for tools aside from this event. I’d rather have something like a quick weekly quest that takes five minutes to do on the alts for currency to progress towards making the tools. I don’t know what would be best for implementing this (or a catchup mechanic), but having them tied to this current system feels like an excessive time sink that, given the glitches and nerfs, does not respect our time.

I understand they don’t want players to reach full epic tools immediately, but this is off-putting. I think they’ll find many players will just pass on the system altogether. I do think something along the lines of what you suggest is more reasonable but I still worry the glitches and lower amount per run and lack of catchup could sabotage the suggested system, too.

I’d like to add that I don’t have a massive alt profession army but I have one main crafter per profession with a few alts for those trees that are harder to fill out early. I don’t need immediate gratification, just knowledge that I can reasonably work towards these goals (even on characters I might not actively play yet) without it feeling pointless out the gate.

Yeah i agree with this petition. The abundance event is AI SLOP at best, and since whatever changed this week they may as well call it Scarcity instead of abundance. Had at least 2 runs give 0 reward due to zone lagging so hard. 4 runs gave 300 and 2 runs gave 600. Even in raid group. The event is BORING with NO CHALLENGE. It has no point to it. Just annoying yelling loa and zone wide lag. Worst thing since dastardly duos. And then to gate profession tools behind weeks of this AI SLOP?! Yeah no thanks.
