The Pet Battle system is being iterated on in Midnight, and changes will continue to come with future Alpha builds. In the first builds of the Midnight Alpha, we have several goals: For players who love collecting pets, there should be significant numbers of pets to collect. It’s been confirmed it’s being changed and iterated on and not going away. Also those who say it was the Nintendo thing need to go re read it.

Yeah, I don’t know if it is arm-chair lawyers, or if everyone watched a YT video recently, but constant talk of Nintendo is annoying.

That being said, I am glad they are:

1. Giving us feedback that they at least heard us. It may not mean much to them one way or the other, but its everything to at least know someone heard you say something.
2. That this is not their final iteration of the changes, and that they plan for more.

The last point is key, obviously.

This part is mostly for a developer who may see my comment, many people I know, really, really love Pet Battle content. However, they participate in 1 of 2 ways:

1. End of the day, I just want to zone out and play. Whether this is leveling an alt via pet battles, capturing pets, or leveling them up. They don’t want anything challenging. They just want to play.
2. Feast-or-famine playstyle. For one person I know, they take a day off work to battle “Super” Squirt or Bodhi Sunwaver (or 1 of the other 3 in Dalaran) during Pet Battle week. They prep meals the day before, stock up on some Coke Zero, find a Netflix series to binge, and do a whole day Pet Battling.

The reason I say this, is to advise developers to take this into account when looking at your metrics. For all those that I know, they don’t do anything with Pet Battle content for weeks at a time, then all of the sudden they pour everything into it.
