My guess is they forgot to intertwine the gear tracks. If the 421 that dropped is on the Hero track but your friend’s 437 item is on the Champion track, this is probably where the disconnect lies.
It’s an oversight for sure, but I doubt they’re going to fix it soon enough for you to get this item unfortunately.
