Most of the people who tie macros to abilities do it for fun. At least everyone I knew who tied /s and /y stuff to abilities did anyway. Nobody really thought it was anything other than cheese to go with the ham for amusement though and everyone who does it knows they aren’t that special.
IMHO Stuff like this only gets annoying when it is on something that has a short CD and/or it’s spammed like someone putting a speech macro on like fireball… Need to make a hale human fire mage in a blue pointy hat+robes and a stick/cane with a red top for some lvl 10 fun

My personal favorite was a DH who bound “Its Morphin’ Time!” to his metamorphosis ability…quickly followed by his rotation with “Mastadon!” “Pteradactyl!” “Triceratops!” “Sabre Tooth Tiger!” “Tyrannosaurus!”
I was barely able to play i was cracking up so hard. It was just so unexpected.

The hunters that have emote macro’s for their pets snuggling up on them and purring or whatever make me cringe so hard.
I don’t macro text to abilities but I do macro toys sometimes.

That’s not a macro, it’s an addon primarily used on RP realms which automatically does it.

back during icc, i think, i had “PADDING THER METERS!!” macroed to the big healing totem cd because it became an inside joke with my guildies- i’d pop it early and just b4 the fight ended to do just that, heh.

I got sick of those myself, but I eventually decided to start having fun with it by typing something completely immersion-breaking for my pet in response.
Like “Greenguy’s swog, Dodogama, dons a tiny pair of glasses and begins doing his taxes.” or “Greenguy’s dreadroc, Flockamole, decides to grab some Taco Bell. Anyone want anything?”
