Statement: Because I have a Doctorate and am of the Zero family.
Query: why do you care?
You didn’t read my entire post.
I clearly said, “in this setting”.
Just because developers have gotten lazy in these last few xpacs doesn’t mean those names are “good” or “right for the setting”.
I expect it from players though.
As for the OP, at least that’s a less common name that you might not have heard about.
My name, I was just being cheeky and referring back to my previous main(s).

Your name has Beau in it.
If you’re going to quote my post, at least read the whole thing, thanks.

Sheeeeaaaarsssss
I hope your character does get by with a little help from his friends.
More like why not?
It’s not like you must have a weird name to be in a fantasy setting.
Most NPCs have fairly regular sounding names too.
I don’t use normal names more mostly because they tend to be taken already.
Nobody wants to get ganked by a goblin named Neil…
It’s an RP thing in this case; I’m not actually a dude named Simon. I just prefer to name my characters things that I think they would actually be named if they were lore characters, and this guy’s got a whole family and backstory that I gave him. I also don’t play a lot of humans, so my other toons tend to have more fantastical but still RP-appropriate names, but Simon’s whole deal is that he’s a pretty average guy who gets roped into crazy quests and dungeons.
I find it funny you ask, since a quick Google of “Aviela” brought up nothing but baby name sites.
So, why’d you name your character a “real” name?
Same here for me. When my mom was in the new mothers class before taking me home from the hospital, EVERY other mother had named their daughters the same female name which was super popular at the time. I was the only girl not named it. LOL
However my RL name is very common too. I tried to get it when I rolled back in 2004 and it was already taken even then. In retrospect, I’m glad I was forced to choose something different… and came up with my current naming pattern of picking names from literature/theater/folktales. My main’s name, taken from literature is a RL female name. Though it might be considered a tad dated if someone named a girl that now, most people wouldn’t bat an eyelash at it in RL… but that’s not why I chose it.
Fun fact, when our e-mail at work is down, I have a hotmail account in my main WoW character’s name which I use for work purposes until work mail comes back up. That’s the mail we have our Staples account set up to since it’s more stable than the real work mail. Staples took the name from my hotmail, assuming it was my real name, and created our business account with my main’s name as the contact.
I purposefully never bothered to correct them since I thought it was funny and they only caught on years after when I overheard a new desk girl on the phone saying: “we don’t have a ________ who works here”. I stepped in and took the call, but it was enough to clue in the account manager it wasn’t my name and they insisted on correcting it. BOO TO THAT!!! IRL fun detected, IRL fun nerfed.
Hahaha, right, Seriously who could be that lame?
IRL name: Rachel Mary *****

p.s. Just for silly reasons.

If I ever had a daughter I would totally name her Talendri. Well, maybe her middle name.
So this is your Nick-name?
I read your post. The setting is high fantasy with a ton of fourth wall-breaking pop culture references since its inception. Not just “in these last few xpacs”. Your post is wrong.
