no. raid finder directly takes out a huge chunk of the socialization of forming groups and puts random people who also dont invest into that social structure resulting in a very non social function of the game.
actually, you would be incorrect here.
raid finder gives players an additional tool that they can use to form groups for the raid.
some people would not able to form their own groups due to time constraints and raid finder thus provides them the tools they need to socialize within the World of Wacraft.
So, yes i stand by my statement
i disagree with this entirely.
simply put , you are using a very impersonal random queue system that takes you out of the world (if they put the teleporting to the place in) to put you into another impersonal group of people who also used the impersonal queue system and somehow saying its actually social af!
no . you know as well as i do that it is not social and actively removes the need to form social experiences with others to make groups.
No one is asking for parsing to be banned besides some fringe people. The issue is how to deal with it having consumed LFG.
first of all, there is no evidence that raid finder is impersonal⌠it places a group of people together in a raid group and they must work together to succeed in the raid.
working together to defeat the raid bosses builds a sense of community and everyone in the raid finder group will become closer because of it and very likely leave the raid group as friends.
How do you know if youâre improving woth no logs or damage meters?
there are like 2 posts that ive seen within the last 2 hrs talking about directly banning logs among other things.
and how you deal with it is to MAKE YOUR OWN GROUPS WITH WHATEVER STANDARDS OR LACK THEREOF THAT YOU WANT.
I havenât seen those posts. Also your solution illustrates you donât understand the problem. Normal players donât even look at LFG because it is overly saturated by parsing and GS spam. Saying things in capital letters doesnât remove this problem.
that is a very good statement, i agree with it fully.
if people choose to use an automated queueing system, like Raid Finder, to create their raid groups, they should be to make their âown groups with whatever standards or lack thereofâ: the standards here in this case being the desire to meet new people through the queueing system.
as i have proven that raid finder upholds the ideals of community that world of warcraft was meant to create, then raid finder is a valid form of grouping and should be allowed if people find it to be fun.
because you did say:
whats your definition of ânormalâ players and what makes this large contingent of players asking for logs or whatever âabnormalâ if they are somehow a minority?
FF14 could be the best modern MMO if they didnât force the singeplayer story on you and allowed you to look at your own performance without the threat of being banned. The Asians are weird about their MMOs. Which sucks because a lot of them could be awesome.
When it comes to Final Fantasy the story tends to be pretty important.
the most important thing for an MMO is that every player gets to decide how they have fun, which is what you stated earlier.
within what is already given in the game yes.
adding in new things that go against the design core of the game no.
oh well lucky for the Raid Finder enjoyers, raid finder is essential to upholding the core values of WoW and MMOs in general
listen . we can argue the merits and bad things of raid finder till we are blue in the face but we have no power to add or not add in anything in the game.
for now though i will just say i disagree with it and dont think it should be added.
if in their infinite wisdom they do add it , then we can revisit it .
Dont fool yourself and think the raiders in FF14 arent using logs and meters
well i just did a raid finder amirdrassil (thats the new raid for dragonflight retail) and i met a group of four people and we started talking and ended up doing a few mythic plus together.
after the mythic plus, they invited me to transfer to their realm and join their guild.
iâm in the process of transferring right now and i am so glad that i did raid finder, without it, i never would have met these wonderful new people
raid finder really helps players to build a sense of community within the game and i believe that it is absolutely splendid.
thats good for you.
the same doesnt hold true for a majority of people using raid finder though.
it seems as though this group of wonderful people have met many new players through raid finder and that is how they were able to grow their guild to be so large.
without raid finder, this guild may not have ever existed.
