I keep seeing tons of threads of people “enjoying” the lack of loot in the game currently. I really don’t understand standing on that side of the fence of the debate.
Obviously, this isn’t speaking for everyone on the side of less loot being a positive, but the general arguement im seeing is “when you finally get something slot it feels great.”
Please tell me what the difference was between titanforging/warforging and this system. You are going to say RNG, but this is just really worse feeling RNG. Because you can sink 8+ hours into the game, and feel like your time is completely wasted with not even a 1% upgrade. When you are running a raid or mythic+, its just as much RNG on if you will be the lucky person to actually even get something, vs the vast majority who get nothing. How is this different from being the lucky person who got a warforge or titanforge? Other than the game just doesn’t value your time anymore? When i go into a M+ Mists, and pray for a shield upgrade, the odds of me getting an upgrade at all are so low… then its like a 1 in 20 chance i get that item off the table… so you really aren’t able to grind or target anything to a reasonable extent.
People make it sound like “a LFR Player could be decked out in titanforges and be stronger than someone who raids heroic”. But really, that just isn’t true… you would get a handful of warforges, and 1 or 2 titanforges a tier. Furthermore, WF and TF wasn’t just a “perfect and semi perfect” version of the item… it was a flat X amount of ilvl upgrade. Which means the person doing the Heroic raid was just as likely to get around the same amount of WF and TF peices making those slots significantly better than a LFR/Normal player and so fourth.
There are 18 loot slots to fill. With the current rate of gear drops the time investment to contiuously upgrade your loot is going to be nuts. This isn’t WoW Classic where there is a finite end. We now live in an ecosystem of infinately scaling M+ difficulty, and usually 6 month at most tiers. You should be able to run 40 M+4 dungeons over time, get 4-5 more ilvl average, then go to more difficult keys.
I see even the people defending this that arent pro streamers getting extremely burnt out in 9.1, when after you sunk 6 months of your life to get 220 ilvl, that you now have to regrind and pray to RNJesus for incremental drops to SLOOOOOOOWLY get your 18 slots to 230… then get slight upgrades from vault every week for 18 slots ect ect. Loot on this game is never permanant, the defence people are making for how bad it feels to get jack squat from days of playing, because that “rewarding feeling” of getting an item will be replaced in a few months or in M+ when you push to higher keys… it just feels worse and takes way longer to get there.
