knowledge of the dungeon (yes healers need that too)
Administrate the mana
Calculate the priorities of healing and how much you can heal before run of mana
Watch out for agroo (yes healers need to do that too)
Not suck in general (yes healers need to do that too)
Ad hominem attacks just after 3 post? damn. Don’t worry I like tanks, just don’t like scummy players.
I see guilds running lowbies as well. This ruins the experience for everyone. The only dungeon groups I’ve been able to get were Deadmines and Stockades (Alliance)
Tanking for pugs is way harder than healing for them, don’t even kid yourself. Warrior is the second most played class in the game and they can’t even be bothered to tank half the time. All you do as a healer is click on rectangles lol. And I’m a HotW NS druid, which means I do both. I’m healing 60 instances in a feral spec as the worst healer class in the game just fine lol.
And how exactly is selling a tank service scummy? Are tanks just supposed to drop whatever it is they’re doing and run an instance they don’t need to do for pugs who don’t have a guild out of the goodness of their heart? I pay mages for ports and water, enchanters for enchants, pretty much any other service where it’s literally 30 seconds of the person’s time to do, people are usually perfectly okay with compensating the person. But it’s scummy for a tank to expect something in return for investing an hour of his time to run some level 55 instance for pugs? lol okay.
I’m not though? I mean sure it’s one thing to complain about a tank selling the run for money while also needing contested gear in it, but fact of the matter is if you’re still leveling and gearing pre-raid in the middle of phase 2 you’re late to the party. You can go ahead and look for a tank who still needs gear from the dungeon too when the majority of the server is already 60 and raiding but other tanks who are already geared are perfectly willing to help you out for money.
If you go and pass on all the drops, then yes you can charge gold for the run, thats other thing. I’m talking about players that charge money but also greed/need on drops.
I do both roles depending on what gear it is I’m after and I can say without question that healing in an offspec is easier than tanking in main spec, especially for pugs who don’t watch their threat and you aren’t on comms with.
HAHAH no it isn’t harder. I’ve done both tanking and healing in several MMOs over the past 15 years on progression content. Healing is much easier to do because you’re not really fighting the other players in your group like you are as a tank. It’s also way easier to cover up a bad player as a healer than a tank.
How does it “ruin the experience” especially since it seems the majority of people have run these instances hundreds of times by now on various characters over the years?
