That’s the first good argument I’ve seen in this thread.
I think transmog is fundamentally different than base character appearance, but that’s a fair opinion.

You see the picture of the super-cute gnome with the name Glinda next to her picture?
Don’t read the words typed under that. Easy peasy.
Ah, I didn’t know the barbershop did all that. I thought it just changed your hair.
I agree with you then. We shouldn’t be able to change things that should be permanent (tats, facial structure, etc). Just hair would still be fine as long as it was to another hairstyle worn by your race
I think this is what people are worried about. There is something to be said about someone that looks the part PVP or raid wise and being able to recognize that in PVP BGs. It was big for Arena to be able to tell what gear someone was wearing.
With that said, t-mog and the barbershop are both good gold sinks and in a PVE setting have no bearing on game play and only stand to enhance the customization of an individual character. While this isn’t an endorsement for them, I will shoot down the #nochanges PVE arguments as irrational.
Barbershop imo was another enhancement that would have happened naturally with the progression of the game over time if no expansions were released, same with t-mog. For t-mog it MUST be turned off in PVP, that one I would agree as critical.
I’m for #nochanges when it comes to the spirit of game play and the core of the game. As long as the non-gameplay affecting things are done free and no microtransactions you’ll have no arguments from me.
Edit: I also agree that any of these tools should only be available at level cap. Or after an attunement of sorts.
So, I actually logged into Retail, just to see exactly what you could change. Mind you, this is by today’s standards. Dunno, if all of this was available, when Barbershop lauched: https://i.imgur.com/bCOBmvx.png
According to Jan. 2020 Retail WoW, Female Nelves, while at the Barbershop, can alter the following:
EDIT: I was curious about the Tauren: https://i.imgur.com/hpjOVbv.png
That’s a lot of Plastic Surgery, happening over on Azeroth.
Then live with them. Deleting and starting over is, in fact, how we handled cosmetic issues that bugged us in Vanilla. Maybe you hate her face markings. That’s a shame. Maybe she likes them. Do you hate them more than you love your raid gear? That’s what you need to ask. If the answer is “I am already invested”, then keep the looks you have. That was Vanilla. This is Classic. That’s how this works.
The “it’s just cosmetic” argument? ![]()
Barber shop =/= ground breaking

In the RP Community, it does. The Barbershop allows for total reconstruction, of one’s Character. Making them look entirely different, as I’ve provided with my Screenshots, showing all the options that the Barbershop provides. This goes beyond simply just changing your Hair.
The cool thing is players of the RP community don’t have to use it. Also, if memory serves correctly when the barber shop was first introduced, it was limited to a simple hair cut. Not ground breaking.
IK I won’t, but that doesn’t mean others won’t and breaks the RP immersion. I do concur that it may not have come with all of that, but we got to find that proof somewhere, otherwise, that’s just hearsay. Still, an entire reconstruction of one’s Character is pretty ground breaking.
EDIT: According to this https://wow.gamepedia.com/Barbershop
WoD was the Expac that added the ability to reconstruct your Face. Shortly after Barbershop was implemented, in Wrath, Tauren were able to change their fur color. But, there’s no indication about the Nelf Face Markings, Tauren Horn Styles, Skin Color, in general, for the rest of the Races, etc. Still a lot of reconstruction of one’s Character, upon Barbershop’s implementation. Also, let’s not forget about the Druid Bear/Cat Fur Color, matching your Character’s Hair Color. Seemed to have been back, then, too. Interesting.
After a quick Google search, the Barbershop was introduced in path 3.0.2:
Some quick notes:
It would appear that cosmetic surgery came later in the games life. These aren’t so bad as it is limited to hair. ![]()
It would appear both googled it! Haha Cheers!
It’s in retail, classic did not have barbershops so NO.
No you’re stuck with your mistakes like the rest of us
You went 60 levels and only barely decided to re-roll?
No. If the face marks bother you that much, remake your character.
