If nothing else, it’s a better use of $8 than twitter blue.
It is hard to argue a quality aspect of the video game between two people, we are obviously going to have differing opinions on what we believe is “more or less value” compared to what we were paying for two decades ago. We wouldn’t have things like Classic era doing so well if objectively retail was hands and knees better. That being said, there are certain metrics we can look at such as how many patches per expansion, how many dungeons and raids, etc. There is pretty hard evidence that the time between expansions (IE, more money spent on boxes) has shortened with the content we receive in them being “less” (not worse, necessarily).
With that being said, World of Warcraft doesn’t exist in a bubble either. There are many games that operate on entirely ‘free’ (See: MTX, battlepass, etc.) models and offer equal amounts of content in shorter periods. I would have a hard time imagining the argument is needed that they have to have everything below to continue to fund the content that we (yes, I sound bitter but I do) enjoy.
- A box fee
- A subscription
- An MTX store
- An in-game currency purchase
- Special editions of different pricing for each expansion

Hello, I see you replied to the thread. Genshin Impact, haha! That game is so massive that it makes WoW look tiny! To be fair though, it also dwarfs WoW in revenue too! That one game makes nearly as much as all of Blizzard, haha!

Just weeks ago it was “you guys are overreacting they’re never going to monetize trading post items”. Now it’s “you guys are overreacting it’s only $8”.
Watch soon there will be bundles for all trading post items for $49.99 or they’ll sell the tender for $20 for 1,000 coins. They seriously think they’re slick slowly easing this stuff into the game so it’s not jarringly sudden.
I’m sick of these apologists defending this nonsense and repeatedly moving goal posts while the game keeps getting worse. One step forward with Dragonflight release after many steps back. As more of the work goes into this stuff and less into the actual game balance and design. “It’s just cosmetic, you guys don’t have $8?!” Same tone deaf sound as “you guys don’t have phones?”.
Meanwhile game been looking like a ghost town. Tired of having to find new guilds after mine died I’ve gone through like 5 since Shadowlands.

I seriously loathe the people that enable this garbage so much. Them and modern “Blizzard” deserve each other I’m just about out of here with my 99% of wow friends and guildies that have quit since Korthia came out.

Haha I logged in just to see if anyone said this already… it looks … I mean… like what’s his actual staff look like, let us have that one, not some shadowlands transmog with a crow glued on top… lol I think the hood looks cool, cape looks good too but what would I transmog it with, they needed a chest piece that just made the rest of it fill in, they put those two people in cloths didn’t they, we suppose to run around naked in a crow hoodie and a cape? 
I’m buying it to support Blizzard and spite the salt mines.

Basically selling tendies for cash now.
I personally went ahead and purchased this transmog set off of the in-game shop. Had some Battle.net Balance left over from last Christmas, So went ahead and used the rest of it!
Other reason I went ahead and bought it is so I can get other stuff off of the Trading Post when this item gets added to it in the future. Won’t need to worry about obtaining these particular items.
