Personally, I agree with you on the subject of Patron Work Orders popping up for items that we do not have learned as a crafter. They should be items that the crafter has learned.
The other thing that I also have an issue with is the Patron Work Orders as well as Player Work Orders coming in that have missing materials, this makes it where players that do not have a lot gold on their character cannot keep up with the whales of the game.
I really don’t get what is added to the gameplay that these NPCs are asking me to spend several thousands of gold in mats in order to craft them an epic weapon for two whole knowledge points.
Like, I think the idea behind this is good. Crafting stuff for NPCs to get your knowledge points makes sense and is a better UX than having to have a Wowhead article open on which obscure mobs drop the specific item you need for your KP each week.
But what would really be lost if this NPC asking me to craft something for them, asked me to craft something that I know, and supplied all the mats to craft it? Why am I being asked to supply all these mats myself?
Agreed. It’s stupid. They should go back to the Dragonflight system where we had quests instead of NPC orders.
But a bunch of really loud posters in Dragonflight complained that we just HAD to have NPC work orders, and unfortunately Blizzard listened to the wrong people.
Empty work orders is another stupid thing that was added because a bunch of really loud players asked for it.
Empty work orders need to be removed, including the ones posted by other players.
The difference is Public Work Orders which they are meant to Emulate don’t lock you out of gaining Knowledge Points that are required to unlock said crafts. There is NO reason that your weekly knowledge is locked behind orders you can not complete. I have missed out on 2 weeks of KP on my tailor because I am getting nothing but recipes that I need 15+ KP to unlock to then get the 2 KP.
Gonna have to say I agree, all i get for patron orders is stuff i cant make or stuff i have to make at a gold loss because the reagents aren’t supplied
P.s. the best farm ive found for KP is actually just digging up piles of dirt while flying around khaz algar which makes…no sense lol
That farm works but you still miss out on up to 18 KP from patron orders
Oh absolutely. I was just offering alternate method for you to gain KP
But everyone is dealing with the same RNG so it’s equal.
It’s not like someone else has extreme luck on their side.
No it exclusively favors gear focused profession spec choices… IF for example as a tailor you chose to focus your points in Spellthread/weaving you would be excluded from being able to complete 90% of the patron work orders as they are all focused on crafting the Epic rank gear that requires you to have basically spent all of your KP into Threads of Devotion. Regardless the issue remains it is a terribly designed system to lock player progression behind a wall that is only surpassed by progressing your character by means of already having passed that wall… It is a paradoxical system. Requiring you to HAVE KP to spend in order to UNLOCK recipes that are required for you to GAIN KP so you can spend it in order to Unlock more recipes.
Gear focused professions make less gold, so them having more KP is fine. They gain more KP anyway by having more first time crafts.
