Pathfinder and a recent interview

OP, no. I don’t think they’re going to take out flying for the next expac because I saw where they just advertised a flying dragon mount for their anniversary.
*** I might be wrong about that flying dragon mount, might just be a pet.**

And also because they’re implementing PF like others before me said.

So that’s good.

Shhhh thatll ruin the whole ion hates flying and time played argument.

I gotta say the more I read the less excited I get it’s a back and forth of yay and oh meh. I’m going to stay where I am with money where it is until I have confirmation of how Pathfinder is gonna work in Shadowlands. Earnable day one or another massive time gate because “We’ll do ANYTHING to not let them fly”.

WoD also came with a flying mount, in spite of the fact they never intended to unlock flying in that expansion.

I thought the zones were technically instanced from each other? Remember back in Cata when people were getting dismounted flying across zone boundaries?

Pathfinder as we know it removes flight for a year.

That’s unacceptable, and it’s becoming tiresome to sub for one year and unsub for the next.

I remember and I also could have been wrong about the dragon being a flying mount. It might be a pet instead.

Still, they wouldn’t be implementing PF if they weren’t going to do it. At least I hope they’ll allow flying.

You’re right though. I do remember that. Really pissed me off.

lol, that was good.

it’s sounds like WoD when ion kept leading on the player base about flying until he finally announced there would be no flying. the only thing we can do is wait and see.

If the zones are instanced that means I’ll be sitting there blue lining waiting to load into the next zone and back and forth. This was how it was in another game I played what feels like forever ago but my partner would zone into town to turn in quest then by the time he’d be on the way out, I’d just be going in and he’d be annoyed having to wait on me. /sigh Terrible idea and sounds like an excuse to remove flying in future expansions because of the “well, you can’t fly from zone to zone anyway so…” excuse.

I have never in all my life heard a game devs say if everybody is unhappy it’s a good thing. Why do the wow devs want the players unhappy?

Just another reason to not buy the expansion.

Based on the pushback they received at Blizzcon it seems they are open to having flight unlock by a zone by zone basis but they are not sure how to do it.

Because there is no way to make everyone happy, it’s better to have everyone be a little unhappy than it is to have a subsection of people who are VERY unhappy.

I’d be willing to bet that the majority of wow players, ALL wow players, would rather have flying not gated. Blizzard could please the majority for once and restore a ton of goodwill toward the community. Except they didn’t. They just spit in the face of fun in favor of metrics.

When was this game released 2004?

Seems like they’re slowly devolving to 90’s era maps and loading screens instead of worlds.

That statement seems highly unlikely, given that they have a perfect example of how to do this exact thing in FFXIV.

If Blizzard ever did claim such a thing, they’d have to either be painfully stupid, or deliberately, maliciously ignorant.

Based on what I know they are still in formulating how a lot of system will come together for shadowlands. They are in the early stages and are making major decisions over the next few months.

I don’t know how much more apparent it could be that Pathfinder is unpopular than when your most devoted fans at your own conference boo when it’s announced.

That said, if each zone is instanced without the seamless transition we have now in the game, I don’t take that as a good sign. Seamless movement between zones has been a hallmark of WoW since its launch. GW2 has each zone instanced and it’s one of the few things that detracts from that game. I can’t think of a reason not to have them seamless except for cost-cutting in development or they are positioning the zone design for the future removal of flight and getting us used to the idea.

I don’t recall them saying that they were considering unlocking flight on a per-zone basis, just that they weren’t sure yet if players would be able to fly directly between the zones, as they’re distinct self-contained islands situated quite a distance from each other in lore.

In all honesty I’d be ok with that if it wasn’t time gated.

Based on that interview it is unlikely players will be able to fly between zones as they are all four separate maps ala Argus.
